There are a few things at Disney World that feel eternal. Cinderella Castle. Mickey waffles. That one family argument happening in the middle of the walkway for absolutely no reason. And, of course, Spaceship Earth.

That giant silver sphere is still one of the most gorgeous icons in all of Walt Disney World, and it is still the gentle EPCOT classic that takes you from the Stone Age to the computer age. But in 2026, it’s also giving off a little “vintage beauty who maybe needs a spa day, a nap, and a very patient maintenance team” energy.

A Magic Kingdom ride officially reopened this past week, and we got the official reopening date for another! As if that wasn’t enough, we also got a big update about a long-closed spot in EPCOT, and, while it’s not as joyous, we also know about another pool closure coming to a popular hotel. Disney’s Pop Century Resort Announces NEW Pool Closure

Disney World theme parks aren’t the only parts of the resort where construction is happening. Disney World hotels are also getting refurbishments, with some hotels getting refreshed food courts, lobbies, rooms, and more.

This includes pool areas, which often go under maintenance before the summer season when there is greater demand for pools. After being closed for over a year, Big Thunder Mountain Railroad is finally reopening at Magic Kingdom!

Disney announced that the Wildest Ride in the Wilderness will officially reopen on May 3rd, and we can’t WAIT. The ride will reopen with new elements, scenes, and an expanded storyline we’re excited to experience. Not only that, but Disney revealed that after extensive testing, the height requirement has been lowered! Here’s what we know.

CONFIRMED: Every Opening Date Announced for Disney World in 2026

UPDATED April 20, 2026

2026 is going to be a year of major change at Walt Disney World, as massive years-long construction projects continue to reshape the future of the resort. However, that doesn’t mean nothing new is coming in 2026.

New missions will be added to Millennium Falcon: Smugglers run in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge at Disneyland Resort and Walt Disney World Resort featuring the Mandalorian and Grogu.

While some of the larger projects won’t be finished and open to guests until calendar turns 2027 — and beyond — there are major changes CONFIRMED to be coming to Disney World THIS YEAR!

You guys, I’ve been waiting on my favorite Disney World ride to reopen for what feels like AGES.
