WE JUST GOT A FIRST LOOK AT THE MUPPETS!!!!!!!
Yes, I am that excited. Disney just shared a sneak peek of Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets — opening in Hollywood Studios on May 26th — and y’all, I am ready to join the Electric Mayhem!
Muppets fans, this is your time to get loud, weird, and very well dressed.
Between the current Muppets buzz at Disney’s Hollywood Studios and Disney’s confirmed plans for Rock ’n’ Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets to open in summer 2026, Muppet energy is having a very real fashion moment in Disney World right now. Kermit has also been around since 1955, which means these shirts are doing that magical thing where they feel both nostalgic and weirdly cool at the same time. In other words, if your park outfit says, “I appreciate chaos, felt, and a frog with emotional depth,” you are in excellent company.
Disney World is in a state of transformation, with massive construction projects, refurbishments, and ride closures dotting the resort’s landscape. Of all these projects, there’s perhaps no transformation eliciting reactions at the moment quite like the Muppets takeover of the Rock ’n’ Roller Coaster.
The coaster first opened in 1999 and has featured American rock band Aerosmith since its inception. However, in 2024, Disney announced that the attraction would be rethemed to feature the Muppets, who had recently been announced as being evicted from their longtime attraction, MuppetVision*3D, to make room for Monsters, Inc. at Hollywood Studios.
Things are getting really exciting over in Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Soon, Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster will reopen as Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster starring The Muppets. Animation Courtyard is getting some changes to become The Walt Disney Studios.

With all of these changes, there is a lot of unknown of exactly what to expect when these new things open. But Disney does give us concept art to help give us some ideas! With concept art, Disney can hide things right in plain sight. That’s why we can’t stop thinking about this one detail in the Monstropolis concept art.

Stop what you’re doing. Your cart is about to become a time machine. These vintage-inspired Disney finds are giving “Main Street gift shop in 1978” energy, except you’re buying them from your couch in yesterday’s leggings. No shame. Only nostalgia.
These are the kinds of pieces that feel like you “inherited” them from a cool aunt who used to go to Walt Disney World in the 70s… except your cool aunt is you, and you have a cart and a coupon code.
It’s about to be a VERY Muppety year! The famous friends are headed back to our television screens on February 4th in a new Muppets special featuring Sabrina Carpenter.

They’re also taking over Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster in summer 2026, so you could say we’re on the come-up. That’s why we’re focused on not just loving the Muppets on the inside, but also on the outside with these 5 Muppet t-shirts that we think everyone will be wearing.
Get ready for some mayhem in summer 2026 because the Muppets will have officially taken over the Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster! Disney announced Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster starring The Muppets back in November 2024, and we’ve been watching updates on this retheme like a hawk.
While we’re sad to see the original version of this ride go, we are THRILLED that the Muppets will have a new home at Hollywood Studios. Ahead of the ride’s official reopening, Disney has filed another permit to install set elements at Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster!
If Rock ’n’ Roller Coaster has ever been a must-do on your Hollywood Studios day, this news is probably going to hit you right in the feels.
Disney has officially confirmed that Rock ’n’ Roller Coaster starring Aerosmith will permanently close in Disney’s Hollywood Studios on March 2nd, 2026. That means March 1st, 2026, will be the final day guests can ride the coaster in its current form. While this is definitely the end of an era, there is some exciting news about what is coming next that longtime fans and Muppets lovers are going to want to hear.
We may be closing the books on 2025, but Disney still found time to cram in a few big announcements!
From Olaf robots to Disney Parks expansion updates, Disney has kept us on our toes the past several weeks. In fact, it’s been a major news year altogether — especially at Disney World. We’ve said hello to new offerings, goodbye to park staples, and a December announcement revealed that we’ll be saying BOTH hello AND goodbye to versions of a popular Disney World roller coaster!
