As much as it pains us, Animal Kingdom will be without one of our favorite lands in just a short 7 days.
It’s true — while the day originally felt far away (and yet, far too close at the same time), DinoLand U.S.A. in Animal Kingdom is permanently closing in just one week. Yes, something new is coming in its place that we’re looking forward to, but we’re ALSO wondering how many times we can ride DINOSAUR in one week. 🤔
Back in September 2025, Disney announced that February 1st would be the very last day to experience the remaining parts of DinoLand U.S.A. This includes The Dino Institute Shop, Restaurantosaurus, Restaurantosaurus Lounge, and DINOSAUR, as the other parts of the land are already under construction. By February 2nd, the entire land will be closed for good.
In case you missed it, the rest of the land is already under construction to become Animal Kingdom’s new Tropical Americas, Pueblo Esperanza land, which will include three rides — one inspired by Encanto (located where DinoRama used to be), the DINOSAUR ride area will become a ride themed to Indiana Jones, and a carousel will be added around where The Boneyard used to be.
The land itself will feature classic Spanish-style architecture, including a large hacienda that will become one of the largest quick-service restaurants in Disney World (most likely taking the place of Restaurantosaurus). The rich, lush color and biodiversity of the Tropical Rainforest will be highlighted everywhere throughout the land, and at the center will be a large fountain where stories will be told by gathering villagers (hooray for more live entertainment!). Imagineers have been taking inspiration from some of the most biodiverse areas in the world, such as the northern part of South America and areas of Central America.
We’re really looking forward to seeing what this new land will look like when complete, and can’t wait to experience all it has to offer, but we WILL really miss DinoLand, seeing as it’s been around since Animal Kingdom’s opening in 1998.
