Disneyland After Dark events are a great way to have some fun in Disneyland without all the crowds. They’re also a great way to take part in some exclusive activities AND see some special entertainment just for that event.
However, maybe the best part (okay, maybe second-best part if you’re including exclusive snacks), is all the characters you can meet at one of these events. We usually end up seeing characters you don’t see at ANY other time, so it’s always exciting. Well, we just attended Disneyland After Dark: 70 Years of Favorites, and we got to see some SUPER rare characters, and we just had to tell you about it.
Disneyland After Dark: 70 Years of Favorites is only happening on two nights: March 3rd and 5th. Tickets are $159 per person and include entry into the park three hours before the event officially starts at 9 PM (so you can get in as early as 6 PM). The event itself, though, includes some super rare characters, and let’s just say that some of the characters we met were really making us feel VERY nostalgic.
So, who can you meet during this special event? Disneyland has listed the following characters on its website:
- Mickey Mouse and pals
- Disney Princesses
- Some favorite “Long Lost Friends” from The Disney Afternoon
- Mother and Father from the attraction Carousel of Progress
- Merlin from The Sword in the Stone
- Flik from A Bug’s Life
- Atta from A Bug’s Life
- Fantasmic! Monkeys
Although some of these characters are ones you can meet during the day in Disneyland, others are super rare and pretty much exclusive to this event. So let’s check out who we got to meet during Disneyland After Dark: 70 Years of Favorites — starting with the Monkeys from Fantasmic!
We also spotted Merlin from The Sword in the Stone up to his usual antics…
…and Scrooge McDuck over in Toontown!
Scrooge McDuck was joined by Huey, Dewey, and Louie, of course.
We also got to say hi to Flik from A Bug’s Life!
Our favorite character spotting of the night had to be Mother and Father from the Carousel of Progress, though! It’s rare that characters from rides come to life like this, so it was super cool to see.
We had SO much fun interacting with these characters, and it’s a shame we don’t get to see them often, but when we do, it’s always a good time. We’ll keep an eye out for more fun character interactions and entertainment in the parks, so be sure to stay tuned to DFB for more.
