It’s going to be easier than ever to stay on-site at a Disney Resort, thanks to Disney’s ever-growing hotel scene!
That’s right — over the next few years, Disney has CONFIRMED that it’s bringing us several brand-new hotels to its theme park resorts! From a new rustic, yet elegant lodging option at Disney World to immersive, story-driven stays in Shanghai, here’s everything we know so far about new Disney hotels in development.
As of this writing, we know that Disney is in the process of opening three new hotels. These projects are in various stages of construction and planning. Once done, however, these hotels are set to make significant shockwaves that elevate your Disney stay.
Disney Lakeshore Lodge — Disney World Resort
Starting stateside in Disney World, Disney Lakeshore Lodge is currently making significant progress alongside Bay Lake and will be Disney World’s newest resort hotel.
Lakeshore Lodge will be a nature-inspired Disney Vacation Club (DVC) and Deluxe Resort that reflects the beauty of the outdoors with Disney storytelling heavily thrown into its design. In some of the concept art, you can see a sign above the entrance that says “The Wonders of Nature are Endless” along with a silhouette of Pocahontas. It’s located near Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground, where the former River Country water park stood.
We’re talking rustic themes, waterfront restaurants, art featuring crossovers of nature and Disney, serene pools, upscale amenities, and more than 900 rooms and villas. In concept art, some of the rooms look like cabins that are elegant and modern.
We’re also starting to see a lazy river forming near the hotel! We’re obsessed with our hotel pools, so we have a feeling we’re really going to enjoy a few laps around the pool on a hot, Florida day.
This will be one of the largest hotel openings at Disney World in years, expanding hotel capacity tremendously while providing a whole new type of luxurious lodging in the process.
Slated to open in 2027, it’ll offer a unique experience while still providing that famous Disney charm and first-class service.
Two new hotels are coming to Shanghai Disney
A lot’s happening at Shanghai Disney Resort right now as it builds TWO new hotels! Already home to Shanghai Disneyland Hotel and Toy Story Hotel, the resort is currently building a third hotel, which will be a nine-story deluxe hotel with roughly 400 rooms on the south shore of Wishing Star Lake and inspired by Shanghai’s architectural legacy. Decorated in an Art Nouveau style, the hotel’s guiding principle is “authentically Disney and distinctly Chinese.”
An opening date has yet to be announced, but progress is moving swiftly.
Additionally, the resort is building a fourth themed hotel close to the Shanghai Disneyland Park’s main entrance. We’re still learning a lot about this new hotel, but it’s been teased that it will welcome guests into a “premium destination infused with Disney stories and imagination.” Featuring “unprecedented immersive storytelling experiences in a way that Disney uniquely brings to life,” this hotel will be integrated into an expanded Disneytown development that offers brand-new dining, shopping, and entertainment options.
This project was recently announced, so we don’t anticipate it opening until 2027 or later.
Other Renovations
While they aren’t full-on new hotels, we can’t ignore some new hotel rooms that have recently updated. It’s a great way to stay at your favorite Disney World hotel, but with a new, updated change.
Disney’s Port Orleans Resort — French Quarter had room refurbishments that wrapped around in spring 2025. There are now more references to The Princess and the Frog, with some more Mardi Gras colors and patterns.
The other side of the resort, Port Orleans Resort — Riverside, is also reimagining its Magnolia Bend rooms (including the Royal Rooms!). The renovations are still happening, but we’re excited to see them when they finish.
Of course, Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground has been updating the Disney Vacation Club cabins for a while now, but we can’t get over the fun design (including bunk beds — who doesn’t love bunk beds?), and there are tons of nods to Chip ‘n Dale, our favorite chaotic duo.
Bay Lake Tower at Disney’s Contemporary Resort has also remodeled its rooms and finished in September 2025. The artwork was bright and perfect for all the Magic Kingdom vibes, and we loved how they have larger spaces like the 2-Bedroom Villa, which can sleep nine people.
Another resort going through changes is Disney’s Pop Century Resort, which is remodeling the guest rooms until February 2026. You might be staying in a renovated room before February 2026, but nothing is guaranteed.
Disney never stops, and we’ll never stop keeping up with all the latest Disney Resort developments worldwide — so keep it posted right here at DFB to stay in the know and get the most up-to-date news!
