Disney didn’t announce this closure, but it’s official.

TRON Identity Program
Some Disney changes come with big headlines. Others happen quietly, almost overnight. You’d think we’d be used to seeing Disney World close stores and restaurants from one day to the next by now (looking at you, Disney Springs). However, when we stepped inside one popular store at Magic Kingdom, we noticed a jarring change that seemed to hint that another permanent closure had struck a Disney World exclusive experience.
If you were hoping to build your own digital companion during your next Magic Kingdom visit, this update may come as a surprise because the TRON Identity Program inside Tomorrowland Launch Depot has quietly closed.

There was no formal announcement, no signage explaining the change, and no farewell moment. Instead, the experience simply…disappeared. When we spoke with a Cast Member in the store, they confirmed that the TRON Identity Program is permanently closed, and at this time, there’s no information on whether anything will replace it in the space.

Curtains covering part of the experience
For those unfamiliar, the TRON Identity Program allowed guests to customize and “program” their own TRON-inspired digital action figure, choosing everything from color schemes to personality traits. It was a unique, interactive offering that felt right at home alongside TRON Lightcycle / Run, especially for fans looking to take a personalized piece of the Grid home with them.

Adding to the confirmation, we also noticed that all programmable figurines and accessories tied to the experience have been completely removed from Tomorrowland Launch Depot. The area where the Identity Program once operated no longer shows any trace of the setup, further reinforcing that this wasn’t a temporary pause or seasonal adjustment.

The quiet nature of the closure is what stands out most. Disney often communicates changes (especially permanent ones), but this experience seems to have ended without much fanfare. It’s not uncommon for newer offerings to be tested, adjusted, or retired over time, but it’s still a little jarring to see something so closely tied to a major attraction vanish without explanation.

Accessories and figures removed
As of now, Cast Members were unable to share whether a new experience, retail offering, or interactive element will eventually take its place. For those visiting in the near future, it’s best to assume the TRON Identity Program will remain closed indefinitely. D-Tech, a print-on-demand system where you could print on phone cases, MagicBands, and magnets, also closed down and was removed from the store.

D Tech has also been removed from the store
While TRON Lightcycle / Run remains one of Magic Kingdom’s most visually striking attractions, this closure does mark the end of a small but memorable interactive addition to the area. We’ll be keeping a close eye on Tomorrowland Launch Depot to see what, if anything, moves into the space next.
For now, this is one of those Disney changes that happened quietly, but definitely won’t go unnoticed by fans who loved building their own piece of the Grid.
