Okay, so you might be aware that a lot is going on right now in Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Recently, Muppets Courtyard closed to make way for a brand-new Monsters, Inc. land.
Animation Courtyard also recently closed to be reimagined as The Walt Disney Studios. Now, when we looked at the concept art for the updated area, we noticed that something was missing: the Hollywood Studios arch that stands in front of the area. Well, it’s official, the arch has officially been removed. It’s GONE, people.
When we last visited Hollywood Studios, we noticed the arch was finally behind construction walls, which we took as a sign that it wouldn’t be around much longer. Here’s what that looked like then.
Well, as of now, the arch has officially been dismantled, pretty much overnight. It is GONE. Here’s what it looks like now.
Yep, that arch is gone, and it’s gone forever, at least according to the concept art. So goodbye, arch. Thanks to @bioreconstruct on X, we can see the demolition from a bird’s-eye view.

Additionally, something else has gone missing in this area. Star Wars Launch Bay also closed as part of this reimagining of the area, and now, the Star Wars Launch Bay sign has been removed from that building.
An aerial overview shows a better look at what’s happening towards the back of the land. There’s a lot of equipment back there!

We are SO excited about this entire area getting converted into a concept revolving around Walt Disney Studios, mostly because we remember when Hollywood Studios was a real LIVE working studio for Disney animators. In fact, both Mulan and Lilo & Stitch were animated there — I remember when visitors to Hollywood Studios were among the first to see artwork from Mulan way back in the day!
The reimagining will include Mickey’s Sorcerer Hat and an area called The Magic of Disney Animation, which will be an interactive area where visitors can explore a fun take on Disney Animation Headquarters.
A new playground is also coming to this space, themed around Mary Blair’s original concept art for Alice in Wonderland. The new area will also host character meet-and-greets and a new Disney Jr. show.
We’ll be keeping an eye on the progress of The Walt Disney Studios, so stay tuned to DFB for more.
