It’s been almost two months since the official closure of Muppets Courtyard in Disney’s Hollywood Studios. This quirky, kitschy section of Disney’s Hollywood Studios closed to make way for a new Monsters, Inc. land (with Disney’s first suspended roller coaster!).
While the land is behind construction walls, you can see the demolition progress and construction depending on where you stand. During a recent visit to Disney’s Hollywood Studios, we noticed that one building is now COMPLETELY gone, so we’re officially saying goodbye now.
The Stage 1 Company Store, which used to be the main shopping location in the land, has now officially been demolished.
We spotted some construction vehicles in the area, but it looks like taking down the building was one of the first things on Disney’s to-do list. While we are sad to see it go, we’ve gotta be honest — we hadn’t been able to step inside to shop for YEARS, as it was available as a gift shop for the last time back in 2020. We were able to go inside part of the building briefly during Jollywood Nights last year for the Muppets Christmas Carol photo op, but otherwise, this building has been mostly untouched for a long time.
Based on the Monsters, Inc. concept art, it does look like another building will go in this spot. Considering the building was completely demolished, though, it looks like Disney will be starting from scratch with whatever replaces the old store!
