Rope dropping Disney’s Hollywood Studios can often involve a fair amount of planning, strategy, and risk.
There are several heavy-hitter attractions in this park, so it can be pretty challenging to know where to start if you want to take advantage of those early morning wait times. But recently, during a visit to Hollywood Studios, we tried a DIFFERENT strategy. And if you’re a fan of character meets, Star Wars, or even just a leisurely morning…it might be the plan that’s perfect for you!
During a recent trip to Hollywood Studios, we headed to Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge first thing in the morning. You may think we were there to ride Rise of the Resistance or even hop on Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run…but NOPE. We stopped by to enjoy the atmosphere.
And while we were in Galaxy’s Edge first thing in the morning? We got some of the BEST character interactions we’ve ever had. During that first part of the day, we noticed that Stormtroopers were more willing to stop and pose for pictures (they usually don’t do this super often when it’s more crowded out).
Vi Moradi was also out roaming, and she was interacting with lots of parkgoers throughout the land without any crowds. But the real kicker is that Mando and Grogu had only ONE family waiting to see them, which is pretty much unheard of any other time of day! Those guys are usually swamped.
So if you’re hoping to meet some of your favorite Star Wars pals and have longer, more memorable interactions, going first thing in the morning might be a good plan. You could grab some breakfast from Ronto Roasters and leisurely enjoy Galaxy’s Edge before the crowds overtake it completely. Sounds like a great time to us!
