How to Get a REAL ID in Florida (If You Need One)

If you’re in Florida and your license doesn’t already have that gold star, here’s what to do:

You have to go in person to a driver’s license service center or tax collector office.
You’ll need original documents proving your identity, legal status, Social Security number, and proof of Florida residency.
A new REAL ID-compliant license costs about $48, plus a small service fee at most offices.
