Did you know you could take some special behind-the-scenes tours at Disney World?
Many of those tours are now just returning to Disney World, including a few at Disney’s Animal Kingdom that lets you get up close and personal with some of the animals. Today, we went on a tour to meet up with some of Disney World’s largest animals, the elephants!
We went on the Caring For Giants Tour. So come along with us!
Check-in happens at the Curiosity Animal Tours kiosk that can be found near the entrance of Kilimanjaro Safaris. Guests need to check in at least 15 minutes before their tour.
We got a special nametag — made from elephant poop fibers!
We were bussed through the backstage area of Animal Kingdom’s savannah to a viewing area that is only open to guests of the tour.
There, we met up with our dedicated guide who taught us about how the park’s elephants are taken care of and told us some fun facts. And we got to see the elephants!
The view of the elephants is only about 80-100 feet away, which is about the closest you can get to these magnificent beasts at Animal Kingdom.
We loved getting to see the elephants up so close and learning about how well they’re being taken care of. If you’re interested, the tour costs $35 per guest. Note that all guests must have a park ticket and park pass reservation for Animal Kingdom on the day of the tour. Guests must be at least four years old and all guests under 18 must be with an adult. Also, this experience IS outdoors, so plan to wear weather-appropriate clothing and shoes.

Tree of Life
On top of the Caring for Giants tour, Disney announced that 4 other tours were returning today! Those tours are Disney’s Keys to the Kingdom in Magic Kingdom and Wild Africa Trek, Up Close with Rhinos, and Savor the Savanna at Disney’s Animal Kingdom
You can book a tour online here or you can check for tour availability on the My Disney Experience app.
