EPCOT’s International Food & Wine Festival has been one of Disney World’s premier events for over three decades, and it often has the crowds to prove it! However, believe it or not, some weeks are slower than others.
If one dissects the 2026 Festival’s dates, certain weeks will be easier to visit than others. Now, that doesn’t mean lines will be nonexistent — they’ll still be there, especially at the most popular booths — but the park won’t be as slammed with crowds as it is during the fest’s opening, closing, or Holiday weeks.
The 2026 edition of the Food and Wine Festival is scheduled to begin on August 27th and run through November 21st, which is in line with the scheduling of the event in recent years, which has seen it begin in the final full week of August and end just before the Thanksgiving holiday. That, in turn, means we can look at previous years to gauge which weeks in 2026 might be — comparatively — slower.
September 13th – 19th
Thanks to a quirk of the calendar, 2026 has Labor Day — the unofficial end of summer and the summer vacation season — arriving on September 8th this year, the latest date it can possibly fall. That makes the 13th through the 19th the first full post-Labor Day — and post any late summer vacationers — week on the calendar, and likely one of the overall slowest at Disney World all year.
October 4th -10th
The next week should see crowds relatively small from October 4th through the 10th. With late September religious holidays — which often see travelers heading down from the northeast — where many major cities see brief school closures in observance — over and the true influx of Halloween visitors yet to begin, this early October week will likely be the last one resembling anything slow at the Food & Wine Festival and Walt Disney World in 2026.
The Eat to the Beat Caveat
There is one major metaphorical wrench that Disney could throw into these prognostications, however: The Eat to the Beat Concert Festival. Offered as part of the standard EPCOT admission ticket, this series features world-renowned musical artists performing several times a day during the festival at the America Gardens Theatre in World Showcase. In recent years, stalwarts like Hanson, New Found Glory, and Sugar Ray, as well as festival newcomers like Yellowcard and even the legendary Beach Boys, have drawn MASSIVE crowds and lines during their performances.
While the schedule for the 2026 Eat to the Beat series has yet to be revealed — judging by recent years, we would expect the full lineup sometime around July 1st — if Disney were to schedule one of the more in-demand acts for one of these “slow” weeks, it could suddenly lead to a much, much busier Food & Wine Festival.
If these weeks do end busier than expected, or you do find yourself visiting the Food & Wine Festival on another particularly busy day, there are some things you can do to alleviate the crowding’s impact on your time. These include:
- Scoping out the Fest’s map and menus beforehand so you know what you “must” try.
- Rope dropping popular booths that are on your must-do list.
- Mobile Ordering special festival items that are available at permanent quick service dining.
- Bring your own water bottle to stay hydrated while sampling dishes from different booths.
If you’re planning to head to the 2026 EPCOT Food & Wine Festival with a flexible travel schedule, you may want to consider one of these comparatively slower weeks. Stay tuned to DFB for more on Disney’s 2026 offerings.
