Disney World CHANGED the Ride Photo for Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin…and You’re Gonna LOVE It

A fan-favorite ride is coming BACK to Magic Kingdom, and we couldn’t be more excited!

Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin has been closed in Magic Kingdom since 2025 to get a major refurbishment. It’s reopening on April 8th with new blasters, new interactive targets, a new ride scene…AND a new ride photo!

When Disney announced the reopening date for the ride, they also revealed that the on-ride photo is changing. Like before, this will be a photo of you on the ride, in action shooting at targets, but now it has some new features.

For the first time, the Space Ranger Spin photos will include your stats from the ride! At the bottom below your photo, you’ll see each person’s overall score, as well as their earned rank from the in-ride game. Make it to Galactic Hero? You’ll be able to prove it to all your friends!

The photo also breaks down how many targets you hit during the ride and the number of special targets you hit. Now THESE are the stats we want, people! Get ready to compare skills with your family and friends.

As we mentioned above, the ride will be getting new blasters — these are handheld and removable from the dock in front of you for more accurate aiming. The targets on the ride will now interact with you when shot, as well. In addition, there’s a new scene at the beginning of the ride with an animatronic named Buddy — he’ll be teaching you how to succeed in the game.
