Do you DREAM of a Disney Fairy Tale Wedding?

Wedding Pavilion
If you’re a diehard Disney Adult and you dream of the day when you can say “I do” in front of a castle, tucked in a cozy gazebo at your favorite resort, or at Disney’s iconic Wedding Pavilion, you can make that happen! There are Disney Fairy Tale Wedding locations all around Disney World, and now we’re hearing straight from brides one thing they would go back and change from their Disney wedding.
Planning a wedding at Walt Disney World sounds like a real-life fairytale, and for so many couples, it truly is. But even the most magical day can come with a few “if I could do it over again…” moments. We asked real Disney World brides what they would change about their big day, and their answers might surprise you. Here are 5 HUGE regrets brides had about their Disney World weddings, and what you can learn from them.

1. Not Hiring a Travel Advisor
When you’re planning a wedding at Disney World, you’re not just planning a wedding; you’re coordinating vacations for dozens of guests. Crystal Lynn shared, “I know someone who regretted not hiring a travel advisor!! So. Many. Details, especially when you have a ton of your guests making their own vacays off of your wedding.”
Between park tickets, resort stays, transportation, dining reservations, and special event logistics, it adds up quickly. A travel advisor who specializes in Disney destinations can help manage room blocks, itineraries, and guest questions, saving you from becoming the full-time trip planner for everyone attending your wedding.

2. Not Taking Time to Actually Eat (and Enjoy) the Food
Disney wedding food is a big deal, and couples often spend months tasting and selecting the perfect menu. But on the actual day? It can fly by. Rae Harper told us, “We were supposed to have been made to go plates, but that sadly didn’t happen, and we were so busy that neither of us got to eat as much as we wanted. The food was amazing, though.” Between photos, greeting guests, and sticking to the timeline, Rae and her spouse barely had time to eat the incredible meal they chose. Her advice? Build in intentional time to sit down together, or confirm those to-go plates are guaranteed.

3. Starting the Day WAY Too Early
Early morning ceremonies are iconic at Disney, but they come with a price. Rae also shared, “We would probably have chosen an afternoon wedding and evening reception… the wedding party had to start getting ready around 4:30/5 am. It made for a really long day. The best day. But a long one.” That sunrise castle moment may look dreamy, but the glam call time can be brutal. If you’re not a morning person (or want your wedding party fully energized for the reception), consider a later ceremony time to avoid exhaustion before the dance floor even opens.

4. Not Building in Time (or Budget) for What Matters Most
Disney weddings are known for being seamless, which can make the day move at lightning speed. Morgan reflected, “If I could tweak anything… I would have done a first look… it would have given us more time for photos and a few more quiet moments together before everything began. I also probably would have skipped the photo booth… If I were reallocating budget, I would have shifted that elsewhere, perhaps toward additional photography time or another experience for guests.”
Morgan also noted a comfort factor many couples underestimate. “March in Florida sounds mild, but it was hot… we hosted [cocktail hour] in direct sun… for guest comfort alone I would have opted inside.” Morgan’s wedding took place at Disney’s iconic Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa, and even there, Florida weather proved unpredictable.

5. Not Slowing Down After the Wedding
After months (or years) of planning, many couples head straight into park mode the next morning, but that might not always be the best move. Ron Combs shared, “Got married at Shades of Green. It was great. I would have taken the day after and not gone to the parks.” Instead of rope-dropping attractions, he wishes they had stayed back and relaxed with family and friends at Shades of Green on Walt Disney World Resort. Your wedding weekend flies by. Taking a resort day to decompress, swim, brunch, and soak it all in might be more meaningful than squeezing in one more ride.

Here’s the most important thing: not one of these brides said they regretted having a Disney wedding. In fact, Morgan summed it up beautifully, “The day itself was everything I dreamed of as a little girl and more… It was magical, seamless, and unforgettable, and I would choose it all over again.”
At the end of the day, weddings at Disney World are still larger-than-life experiences. But if you’re planning one, these real-life reflections might help you avoid a few “I wish we had…” moments, and make your happily ever after even sweeter.
