The Magic Kingdom’s latest exclusive Disney Vacation Club Lounge — McKim’s Mile House — is proving to be one of the most popular membership lounges added in years. In fact, the location’s operating hours have been expanded to 11:00 AM to 8:00 PM each day, two hours longer than its previous 6:00 PM closure time.
Located in the space that had long been occupied by the Frontierland Shooting Gallery, McKim’s offers a cozy spot for Members to recharge.
McKim’s features a western vibe that’s in line with Frontierland’s general aesthetic, including furniture…
… a cobblestone fireplace…
… architectural flourishes, including a faux upper level…
… signage…
… thematic elements and props integrated with guest elements, including Freestyle machines …
… and wall decorations.
The lounge is named for legendary Imagineer Sam McKim, a longtime art director for Fox who moved over to Disney in 1955, coinciding with the opening of Disneyland. McKim was well known for working on several Frontierland projects, as well as the souvenir maps that were commonly offered at Disney Parks.
The lounge features small easter eggs and references to, as well as examples of, his work.
DVC Members and up to 4 Guests per Membership Card, or the number of Guests on their Resort reservation, booked within their Membership, have access to the following perks in the lounge:
- Comfortable seating

- Wi-Fi

McKim’s Mile House has quickly become one of the most popular DVC Member lounges on Disney property, as evidenced by the fact that the venue has extended its operating hours by two hours each day, giving DVC Members more time to enjoy the rustic charm of this Frontierland spot. I think it wrong that regular guest cannot go into the lounge. We paid for our ticket to get into the as well. Just like dvc members. It is just wrong. Everyone should be treated equal.
I really enjoyed McKim’s Mile House. The theming and details are amazing, and you can almost forget that you’re in the middle of Magic Kingdom while you’re there. I did wish that they had more options for snacks, like the DVC lounge at Disney Springs, but that’s not even a drawback. I’ll probably go back to McKim’s every time I’m in MK.
