Do you hear that? It’s the sound of sleigh bells ringing! Yes, we know it’s the middle of summer, and the holidays are a LONG way off, but we’re counting down the days until the start of the holiday season in Disney World.
We are ready for the beautiful holiday decorations in the parks, all the great holiday snacks, and the EPCOT Festival of the Holidays. Speaking of which, Disney just dropped the dates for this year’s festival: November 27th through December 30th.
That’s right, you can now make plans for the EPCOT Festival of the Holidays, which will take place from November 27th through December 30th. Disney has even confirmed some things that will be returning to the festival this year, including the holiday kitchens (aka food booths — and the part we really get excited about). We can’t wait to eat our way through the holidays around the world.
The Holiday Cookie Stroll will also be back this year. This is a fun activity that tasks you with hunting down cookies all over the festival (the cookies and locations are listed in the official festival passport). If you buy five of these cookies, you’ll get a stamp in your passport for each one. Collect all five stamps, and you can turn your passport in for a prize.
One of the most iconic parts of the festival is the Candlelight Processional, and that will also be returning this year. The Processional brings celebrity narrators to EPCOT to tell the story of Christmas, complete with live music and a choir. In the past, we’ve seen some pretty famous people narrate, including Brendan Fraser, Jennifer Garner, Neil Patrick Harris, Josh Gad, and more.
You’ll also find special storytellers in many of the country pavilions around World Showcase. They’ll be telling stories about holiday traditions for their respective countries. You’ll also be able to catch Voices of Liberty dressed in Dickens-inspired costumes singing Christmas Carols in the American Adventure Pavilion.
Love scavenger hunts? You’ll want to participate in Olaf’s Holiday Tradition Expedition, which starts with you buying a special map. Then you’ll have to hunt down hidden Olafs throughout World Showcase, and attach a sticker to the appropriate place on the map when you find each one. Once you’ve found all the Olafs, turn the map in and get a prize!
There’s so much more to see and do at the festival, too, and we’ll be keeping you updated, so stay tuned to DFB for more.
