It’s one of our favorite times of the year over at Disney California Adventure at Disneyland Resort — Lunar New Year!

Disney California Adventure’s Lunar New Year Celebration runs from January 23rd through February 22nd, 2026. There’s so much to check out during this festival — decor, entertainment, merchandise, and more, but we can’t forget about the food! We’re live from the very first day of the festival to keep you updated on everything new, returning, and the things you can’t miss.

The Lunar New Year festival in Disney California Adventure is where Disney gives a “joyous tribute to Chinese, Vietnamese, and Korean cultures.” The multicultural celebration is meant to be filled with “happy wishes for health, luck, and prosperity throughout the Year of the Horse!”

We started off our day by admiring the gorgeous decor outside the parks — you’ll find most of it in Disney California Adventure, but Disneyland Park is celebrating Lunar New Year as well!

Make sure you grab a Celebration Guide, so you can plan out everything you want to do during the festival. Don’t miss visiting the Lucky Wishes Wall to write down your wish for the new year!

There are also numerous entertainment offerings throughout the festival that you often can’t find any other time of year, such as meeting Horace Horsecollar in his Chinese-inspired ensemble. 

You can also see Mulan’s Lunar New Year Procession and special appearances by popular Disney characters (like Mickey and Minnie) dressed in outfits inspired by traditional cultural attire.

We can’t forget about the merchandise! At this festival, you can choose from a variety of souvenirs like t-shirts, Spirit Jerseys, ears, pins, and more.

Speaking of which, you can also get a Year of the Horse Keepsake Button, so be sure to grab one!

Then, there’s the FOOD! There are numerous booths to visit, each with a selection of specialty items, so we recommend checking the menus beforehand to get an idea of what you’d like to grab. You can grab Five-Spice Popcorn Chicken from Bamboo Blessings, with crunchy, peppery, moist chicken and a sweet chili garlic sauce.
