Lunar New Year has hit Disney California Adventure! The festival runs until February 22nd, and we’re pretty excited to try all the food, see the entertainment, and buy way too much merchandise.
There are different food booths set up around the park, and we’re heading to Lucky 8 Lantern to see what they have this year. We’re bringing you all the details right here so you can decide if it’s worth the stop.
Here at Disney Food Blog, we’re pretty obsessed with all the food at Disney festivals. While the festival is short, it’s worth a stop on your trip to get some limtied time food and feel the magic of a Disneyland festival. Ready to check out the menu?
Menu
While the menu might be small, don’t be afraid to make a stop!
There are two returning snacks and two brand-new beverages making the lineup this year. The booth will be available until February 22nd and is located in the Performance Corridor.
Eats
First up, we’re trying the Phở Dip, served with rice noodles, sliced beef, shaved jalapenos, pickled onions, and phở broth, for $9.75. The bun on this was delicious; it was fresh, crispy on the outside, and soft in the center. We really enjoyed the meat, and combined with the noodles and pickled onions, we loved the textures and flavors.
You do get a good kick from the jalapeños. We also enjoyed the phở broth, but almost preferred it without so you could really enjoy the freshness.
We also grabbed the Chocolate Firecracker, with light chocolate mousse, chocolate ganache filling, chocolate almond dacquoise, and popping candy, featuring DOVE Dark Chocolate, for $8.
This treat has a smooth chocolate mousse center. Pop rocks are a fun topping that adds texture and a fun sensation. We do want to warn you that the dessert will stain your mouth red!
Drinks
We also tried the new Red Envelope Margarita made with tequila, orange juice, sweet and sour, raspberry puree, blood orange syrup, and a gold shimmer for $18.50. The gold shimmer in this drink is so pretty! The most prominent flavors were the sweet-and-sour syrup and orange juice. The tequila definitely packs a punch in this drink, too! We didn’t get much of the raspberry puree flavor.
Also new this year, we have the Yuja-Melon Cocktail for $18 made with gin, Lillet Blanc, yuja puree, and rock melon syrup, garnished with a purple orchid. This cocktail was very fruity, with a floral, almost perfumey hint. You don’t taste the gin very much as it is overpowered by the other flavors in the drink.
Overall
Our favorites at the booth were the Red Envelope Margarita and Phở Dip. However, we still enjoyed everything at this booth, and the Pop Rocks on the Chocolate Firecracker were a fun element! The Yuja-Melon Cocktail wasn’t our favorite, but if you like very fruity drinks that have a hint of floral, you might really enjoy this one.
We’re trying everything at the festival, so you know what’s worth the money, so make sure you keep following Disney Food Blog for more!
