Epic Universe has been open for under a year over at Universal Orlando, but the park has been VERY popular ever since its opening date, and that means that some rides may need some TLC already.
In both Universal and Disney parks, we often see their water rides go under refurbishment during the winter months when they’re not as popular due to the cold weather. Epic Universe just announced one of its first ride refurbishments since the park opened in May 2025, so if you love Fyre Drill, you’ll be without it for about a week in February!
On the Universal Orlando website, Fyre Drill is now listed to be temporarily closed from February 1st to 7th, 2026. There’s no reason or cause listed for this closure, but our assumption is, again, just like lots of other water rides around the resort, it will close to fix up the minor issues it’s sustained during its many months of running, to make sure it continues running well for the remainder of the year.
Fyre Drill is a water boat attraction located in Isle of Berk. The story is that Ruffnut and Tuffnut have transformed Berk’s Fyre Skööl into an interactive boat battle. You’ll board your boat and blast your water cannons at flame-like targets, as well as the other boats around you! If you hit special targets, the other boat will get soaked with additional water!
You will NOT leave this ride without getting soaked, and if you’re worried about your items, you can place them in safe, waterproof containers at either end of the boat. During winter, we haven’t seen it jump above 5 minutes on colder days (and rarely have seen it jump above 15-20 minutes even on warmer days during this season. When I was just in Epic this week, no one was on it basically all day — it was COLD, so people didn’t want to be soaking wet AND freezing.
