A lot is happening right now in Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Animation Courtyard is getting completely reimagined and will soon become The Walt Disney Studios. Muppets Courtyard is pretty much gone, and that space is being converted into a new Monsters, Inc. land.
Meanwhile, the Muppets are going to move over to Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster to take over that ride. Now, Disney World recently filed a new permit for work on that ride…so the Muppets are coming SOON!
The new permit was filed on December 18th by Walt Disney Imagineering to task Mecca Productions Inc. to “install set elements” at an address that coincides with Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster. This means that work will begin soon to turn the current Aerosmith elements of the ride into Muppet elements.
Now, we previously noticed that the pre-show for the Aerosmith version of the ride was closed, so this permit could be for installing the set elements for the new pre-show, which will feature Electric Mayhem recording a jam session in the studio once used by Aerosmith. With that pre-show now closed, it’s possible Disney is going to work on that part of the ride first.
Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster is set to completely close on March 2nd, with the new Muppets version of the ride set to open in summer 2026. That’s a pretty short window for such a huge ride change, but the ride will be closed for at least a couple of months before it reopens.
The new version of the ride will have G-Force Records being taken over by Scooter’s uncle, J.P. Grosse. Electric Mayhem is lined up to headline a huge Hollywood concert, but they’re getting so into their jam session in the studio that Scooter has to convince them to get to the stage on time. So you’ll race through iconic Hollywood locations to help make that happen.
In the meantime, we’re keeping an eye out for more updates about the new ride, so be sure to follow DFB to keep up with all the details!
