Be Our Guest at Magic Kingdom has become a must-do for many guests on their vacation, but we’re going to suggest three other restaurants instead.

Be our Guest ballroom
This restaurant has become one of those “must-do” dining experiences on a Disney World vacation, like the kind people book because it feels essential. And listen, we get it. The atmosphere inside the Beast’s Castle is unlike anything else in Disney World, and we’ve had good meals there over the years. But if you’re on the fence, or only considering Be Our Guest because everyone else says you should, we’re here to suggest three other restaurants that might give you a better overall experience for the price. Let’s dive into the options that we think offer better value, more consistent food, and in some cases, a much more memorable meal.
Liberty Tree Tavern — Comfort Food, Consistency, and Better Prices
Liberty Tree Tavern in Magic Kingdom is one of the most reliable meals you can get in the park. This spot serves all-you-care-to-enjoy comfort food with hearty dishes like roast turkey, pot roast, mashed potatoes, stuffing, and their famous Oooey Gooey Toffee Cake. It’s the kind of meal that feels homey, satisfying, and always freshly prepared. Compared to Be Our Guest, where the food quality can vary, and the price tag is significantly higher, Liberty Tree Tavern consistently delivers a delicious meal that leaves guests happy (and full).

The Patriot’s Platter
Price-wise, Liberty Tree Tavern also comes out ahead at just $45 per adult and $24 per child, plus tax and gratuity. It’s still a table-service dining experience, but the cost is noticeably lower than Be Our Guest’s prix-fixe menu. If you’re looking for great value inside Magic Kingdom without sacrificing flavor or atmosphere, this is an excellent alternative. For many of our DFB reporters, this restaurant outshines Be Our Guest simply because you know what you’re going to get every single time: a great meal.

Steakhouse 71 — A Better Choice for a Relaxed, High-Quality Dinner
If what you’re really craving is a more upscale dinner, Steakhouse 71 at Disney’s Contemporary Resort is the way to go. This modern American steakhouse offers high-quality cuts of meat and creative sides. Signature dishes like the Steakhouse 71 Filet Mignon, the popular Stack Burger (a star from the lunch menu), and their delectable chocolate cake give this restaurant a well-deserved reputation for excellent food at a surprisingly approachable price point.

The full spread!
Steakhouse 71 provides more elevated dining than Be Our Guest outside of a Disney theme park, but without the premium pricing that usually comes with “signature dining” in Disney World. It’s just a quick walk from Magic Kingdom, making it an easy escape from the crowds and a relaxing place to enjoy dinner. If you want better food quality, more choice, and a calmer dining environment, Steakhouse 71 is absolutely the better pick.

Cinderella’s Royal Table — If You Want a Castle… Choose the One With Princesses
If dining in a castle is what draws you to Be Our Guest, then you should know there’s another castle restaurant in Magic Kingdom, and this one actually includes character interactions. Cinderella’s Royal Table gives guests the chance to dine inside Cinderella Castle while meeting Disney Princesses throughout the meal. For families with young kids or anyone who loves character dining, it’s hard to beat this level of theming and entertainment.

Full spread from our meal at Cinderella’s Royal Table
While the price is slightly more ($17 more for adults to be exact), Be Our Guest, the added value of character meet-and-greets makes it feel worth it for many guests. The menu includes dishes like beef tenderloin, chicken, fish, and themed desserts, and while it may not be the most flavorful meal in the park, the overall experience tends to feel more magical compared to Be Our Guest’s atmosphere-only wow factor. If you’re splurging on a castle meal, this one offers both ambiance and interaction.

Sleeping Beauty
If your heart is set on Be Our Guest, you should definitely go as the Beast’s Castle is beautiful, and the atmosphere is truly unique. But if you’re booking it simply because everyone says you should, we think these three options might give you a better experience for the money. Our DFB team takes our restaurant reviews seriously so that we can share with you what is and isn’t worth your money on your next Disney World trip. It’s sad that Be Our Guest has ended up the way it has. When it first opened it was amazing – the food was excellent!! But then they changed to a pre fixe menu and the food was never the same.
And I’m surprised you did not include the Skippers Canteen in your “try this instead”. It’s not only fun and punny with your skipper servers but the food is excellent and they have two “cozy” dining rooms that you can request when you check in for your reservation – the map room and the china room.
I miss breakfast at BOG. That was hands down my favorite breakfast experience at Disney World! I think the old menu at BOG was way better than the Prix Fixe menu. If you want French food with a French atmosphere, consider Chefs de France at Epcot, and you can put those Duolingo lessons to use as well!
