It’s hard to believe that Disney World closed over five years ago, although there are still some things that haven’t yet returned to the park (and may never return again). We miss things like package delivery to hotels from the parks, food seminars and demonstrations at the EPCOT Food & Wine Festival, and other things that feel like they’ve been gone forever.
However, some pre-pandemic traditions ARE returning to the parks, even now, five years later. This morning, we witnessed a marching band in EPCOT, which we haven’t seen since 2020.
Yes, that’s right, high school marching bands have returned to EPCOT. It’s been a long time since we’ve seen this sight, but to give you some context, this used to happen during mornings in the park. The bands are made up of high school students in the Disney Imagination Campus program. And you can now catch them in World Showcase.
We were told the bands usually start marching through EPCOT at around 10 AM, and we managed to catch them as they played and marched their way through World Showcase.
The bands start at the American Adventure pavilion and then do a loop around World Showcase. You’ll usually have the opportunity to see a few different bands.
We recommend taking time to see the marching bands and cheer on these young high school students who are bringing this entertainment back to EPCOT. We also hope that means we’ll see even more pre-pandemic traditions return to the parks (hello, can we bring back Citizens of Main Street next, please?).
We’ll be keeping an eye out for more surprises like this, so stay tuned to DFB for more.

I remember when there was at lease one parade every day at Epcot, maybe even 2. Ahhhh the good old days of Michael Eisner and Frank Wells.
So glad to see this returning!
That’s great news!
Some of these young musicians are SOOO amazingly good that I have odtenstood, slack-jawed, as they perform in Florida heat in full uniform, marching, blowing, drumming, counting, fingering, watching… have you ever tried it? Not a “walk in the park” by any means!
Often we are guilty of taking music for granted, (especially live events), dismissing it as background noise. Let’s all take a moment to applaud when we see a live performance… it’s NOT a big radio or series of A.I. generated notes!! In addressing this topic, I am including Disney World
Cast as well as guest acts. The piano player or barbershop quartet on Main St… African drummers at Animal Kingdom…Disney Springs entertainment, maybe?
Imagine watching “Jaws” without those ominous two notes? (C’mon now, as soon as I mentioned it, that theme music is in your head!) Or witnessing 4th of July fireworks in Boston without the 1812 Overture ringing out?
Think about it…
What a quiet world it would be. Yikes.
As a firm believer in school music education, I eagerly await this returning Epcot treat. Bravo to the Disney person who made this decision! 👏
Thanks for listening.
