Marvel fans will want to board the upcoming Disney Cruise Line ship, the Disney Adventure, which is sailing out of Singapore, for many reasons, thanks to the theming on board, but especially because there’s a RIDE on board themed to one of our favorite Marvel characters!

Groot Galaxy Spin is coming to the new cruise ship, and is a family-friendly spinning ride that hoists riders in the air while fueled by the music from the Guardians of the Galaxy films. Disney just gave us a behind the scenes look at the creation of the new ride, which has us even MORE stoked for the new cruise ship!
In this new video released on the Walt Disney Imagineering social media accounts, Imagineer Marcel shared with us a little sneak peek into what’s going into this ride’s creation. Marcel shared more behind the story of the ride — apparently, Rocket Raccoon and Groot have taken parts from all around their ship to make a spinning DJ platform for guests to enjoy riding.

In the first few weeks of creation, there’s a lot of sketching involved to get the ride vehicle and the ride’s design just right. Marcel specifically has been defining aesthetically what it looks like, and then brainstorming how to make it come to life and manufacture it.

Marcel himself was also the Imagineer who did a piece of concept art for the ride, and he stated he wanted it to capture how fun, colorful, and energetic the ride is meant to be.

Finally, he showed off a model of what the ride vehicle is currently slated to look like and highlighted how creating an attraction like this involves many Imagineers from different departments to make it all come to life. The model itself is very helpful for Disney’s partners to have access to, to really get a visual, which we can understand!
