The Disney Destiny, the latest ship from the ever-expanding Disney Cruise Line, is just about ready to for guests, and we got to see some of the ship’s NEW elements up close during a special preview cruise! The ship, which will have its maiden voyage on November 20th, is themed to Heroes and Villains, and be based on “on the legacies of beloved Disney stories, characters, and theme park attractions” according to the company.
For the Destiny, Disney’s Imagineers were “inspired by the dynamic duality of every great Disney story when developing this new ship, where opposing forces of light and dark drive characters to rise to their purpose.” That theming carries through to the ship’s dining areas, including Cafe Megara, based on Meg from Hercules.
The cafe is loaded with easter eggs and references to the 1997 movie, and we spotted a lot of them for ourselves!
If you look at the decor, you can find lightning bolts and other symbols from the film.
The flower Hercules gives Meg in the film is forever stationed on the bar’s countertop.
Each of the stools has the silhouette of a character from the film on the back…
… even the kids’ seats.
The theme wraps the space as well, with references to the film on the walls. Notice Pegasus in the wallpaper?
Another area looks like it’s right out of a sketchbook, complete with the Greek key design and other classically Greek elements.
Of course, the cafe isn’t all easter eggs. There’s a full menu for guests to choose from.
There are freshly made juices…
…specialty drinks (including Illy espresso!)…
…cocktails…
…coffees…
…and even essentials like water, kombucha, teas, and more.
Cafe Megara ties into the Disney Destiny’s heroes theme in some subtle ways and offers a solid menu to boot!

We do this because it’s important to us as journalists to ensure not only that we give you unbiased opinions, but also that you can trust us to do so since we’re paying our own way. On rare occasions, when we are invited by a company to attend a preview as media, and when we choose to accept that invitation, we will always make you, our readers, aware of that situation. Today, we were invited by Disney to attend their media preview of the Disney Destiny. Note that when we attend events as media we are 1) Not required to review that event/food on any of our channels, and 2) Not required to review that event/food favorably. You can always count on DFB to give you a 100% unbiased and honest review of any event that we attend, food that we eat, or beverage that we drink. You can see more in our Disclosure Policy.
