Just when you think ice cream can’t get any better, Disney World goes and makes ice cream even BETTER!
It’s hard to beat eating a Mickey Ice Cream Bar while walking down Main Street, U.S.A. in Magic Kingdom, if you ask us. But Disney just upgraded Mickey Ice Cream Bars with NEW hand-dipped toppings, and we’re bringing you a full review of some of the new treats!
We stopped by Centertown Market at Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort to check out the hand-dipped Mickey-shaped Sprinkles Mickey Premium Bar for $7.79. It’s like a Mickey sprinkle-ception situation going on here. We love that these are hand-dipped, so they’re made once you order them.
This is a fun take on a classic ice cream bar — you get the milk chocolate shell and creamy vanilla ice cream, plus a fun crunch from the sprinkles. They were a little hard and tough to eat at first, since they were frozen, but once they began melting, it was easier to eat. If you’re not a fan of sprinkles, you can definitely skip this one!
Next up, we grabbed the hand-dipped Mickey Premium Bar with Sprinkles from Auntie Gravity’s Galactic Goodies in Magic Kingdom. This one was $7.69.
This was another fun upgrade! We will say that these are pretty messy, and Cast Members were serving them in bowls — which you’ll probably want the more you eat. There’s an additional layer of chocolate that is then dipped in sprinkles to adhere them, and hey — we’ll never complain about more chocolate. The sprinkles added a nice crunch and didn’t get as hard as the Mickey sprinkles did.
Then we headed over to the Anandapur Ice Cream Truck at Animal Kingdom to pick up the hand-dipped Mickey Premium Bar with Freeze Dried Skittles for $7.99.
This was definitely the most interesting of the bunch! We’ve never thought to combine Skittles with chocolate, but apparently, Disney did. They’re crunchy like an M&M would be, but they’ve got the fruity tartness you expect from Skittles. It’s a LOT of sweetness, but the lemon and orange Skittles help to break some of that up. We liked this more than we thought we would — especially the crunch!
You can also head over to Disney’s Pop Century Resort to find the Hand-dipped Mickey’s Premium Ice Cream Bar with Salted Caramel Pearls at Everything POP Shopping and Dining for $7.79.
This one totally blew us away! The crispy popping pearls gave it even more of a crunch, and that salted caramel flavor was divine. It was dipped in a birthday cake-flavored icing, which paired wonderfully with the vanilla ice cream. Our only complaint was that it was just a little hard to bite through, but we’d still say it’s our second favorite of the new ice creams released.
Finally, we headed over to Fort Wilderness Resort to check out the Hand-dipped Mickey’s Premium Ice Cream Bar with Chopped Peanut Butter Cups for $7.99 at Trail’s End.
This one is easily our favorite new addition to the Mickey Ice Cream bar family! While it did melt fast (so grab those napkins), the birthday cake icing paired incredibly well with the Reece’s peanut butter cup pieces. The peanut butter also added another layer of creaminess to this treat, enhancing it even more than we ever thought possible. If you’re a fan of peanut butter and chocolate, this is 100% a must-grab!
There are LOTS of new treats that just popped up around Disney World, and we’re reviewing them ALL! In the meantime, make sure you stay tuned to the Disney Food Blog for the latest Disney news and more!
