REVIEW: This Disney World Cannoli Surprised Us and We're Left With Questions

We’re big fans of trying all the latest and greatest new snacks and desserts around Disney World — especially in Disney Springs!

Who’s ready for a new cannoli?

When we heard there was a new sweet treat over at Vivoli il Gelato, we were super excited to try it. However, we’ve got to admit that, unfortunately, this was shocking, and here’s why.

Now, Vivoli il Gelato is one of our favorite dessert spots in Disney Springs, especially if you’re looking for a menu that has lots of different items to appease everyone in your group. Back in August, we tried a delicious Tres Leches Tiramisu that we could not get enough of, and their Pumpkin Spice Affogato is a perfect fall treat if you’re a fan of pumpkin pie flavors.

With that being said, we were looking forward to trying the Froot Loops Cannoli, which is now available for $8.25. However, we’re devastated to admit to you that this really was NOT it for us. The shell was very dry, but not crispy or flaky at all, like a cannoli shell is supposed to be, very flour-forward, and was pretty hard to break.

The highlight here was definitely the filling, as it had that slight ricotta flavor that you associate with cannoli, and it was slightly chilled. It was smooth, creamy, and hit the spot for sure, and we thought that maybe our experience could be turned around. However, then our hearts were crushed again when we realized the fruit loops on here were so stale. They were soft, didn’t have any crunch, and so much of the flavor was gone, it was just “sweet” (and while this is certainly a sweet cereal, we enjoy the other fruity flavors you get from them normally!).

Personally, we don’t think this is worth grabbing, even though the size certainly would make it easy to share. We were hoping we’d be able to recommend it for kiddos at least, since we know that often Fruit Loops are a big hit with them, but sadly, we think they’ll be disappointed by it too.

Now, it’s entirely possible we just got a bad batch, and this treat may even itself out in the future! We’ll be crossing our fingers — we’d love for that to happen! And we definitely still recommend stopping by for the gelato, affogato, or other tasty treats here.
