We finally have good news about construction at Disney World — one construction project has officially been completed.
Over at Disney’s Port Orleans — French Quarter, the lobby was going under refurbishment, and we’re loving the new updates.
Look at these fun new rugs! We love the bright details of the feathers on the mask, which really give the whole space a greater New Orleans feel.
The furniture is also new and looks so comfy to sit on. This resort has numerous great spaces to sit, so we don’t always find ourselves in the lobby, but it’s nice while waiting to check in or for a rideshare vehicle to arrive.
Of course, we love hanging out and watching cartoons with the kiddos, too. We love the TVs in resort lobbies, and we could probably be entertained for hours.
Here’s another seating area with tables in the middle as well. If you’re family is staying in separate rooms, this can be a great meet-up spot in the morning before heading to the buses. The entire lobby feels brighter, and while the refurbishment wasn’t extensive, it’s small updates like these that elevate our resort experience to the next level.
We’re mostly glad to see the construction curtains down. As true Disney Adults, we get so excited anytime we see walls come down.

One of our favorite resorts. We loved it before. Wish they would leave things alone! The mask rugs look nice but not the furniture…. too soft and ugly. I often sat in the lobby waiting for a bus or just enjoying the atmosphere. Won’t be doing that now….
Yes we stayed ot the French quarter we loved it.
Shhhh quiet there’s nothing to see here…. Don’t need a bunch of people discovering this great jewel of a resort and ruining the peace and quiet.
POFQ is my favourite moderate resort. The update looks lovely, particularly the rugs. Behind the front desk there was a musical score, that played “Oh when the saints go marching in.” I see that has gone now, which makes me a little sad but things have to move on.
The rugs are gorgeous! I don’t stay here because the resort is to big and confusing.
Have stayed there multiple times. After a day in the parks the grounds are so quiet. The proximity to Riverside and the Boatwrights restaurant is great for their breakfast. It’s easy to get around as French Quarter is the smallest of resorts.
But I agree with Steven Reposa – don’t spread this around.
