Something new is on the way at Universal Studios in Orlando — but we’re not quite sure what yet.
Back in August, Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit closed for good, and we’ve been keeping an eye on the latest construction updates. While Universal hasn’t officially announced what will be taking the place of the former roller coaster, we do know that the entire coaster and related structures are being demolished to make way for the new attraction. Let’s check out the latest updates.
Thanks to our friend @bioreconstruct over on X/Twitter, we’ve got an update on the demolition of Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit at Universal Orlando. The ride officially closed on August 18th, 2025, and we’re eager to find out what will take its place. You can check out aerial photos of the demolition below — including the queue and loading area, seen here. The ride featured a second-story loading platform, which has now been demolished.
A good amount of the ride track has already been removed, which you can see in the photo below. Universal quickly got to work on the removal of this ride.
In the photo below, you can see large cranes and equipment that have been brought in to help with the removal of the track and parts of the loading area building.
And, although we don’t know which attraction will be taking Rip Ride Rockit’s place, we can already see excavation work and other development happening in the area. It looks like crews are preparing to lay the groundwork for something large. We’ll have to wait and see what it will end up being, for now!
We can’t wait to see what attraction is ultimately replacing Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit, and we’ll be on the lookout for additional updates. In the meantime, make sure you stay tuned to the Disney Food Blog for the latest theme park news and more.
