Anker has recalled additional power banks, according to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC).
The recall was issued because the “lithium-ion battery in the power bank can overheat, posing fire and burn hazards to consumers.”
Anker issued the recall on September 18th, 2025, and it impacts about 481,000 units sold within the United States. The recall impacts Anker Power Banks with model numbers A1647, A1652, A1257, A1681, and A1689. We often recommend portable chargers like these for travel and theme parks, especially, so make sure you check yours to see if they are affected.
The Consumer Product Safety Commission has received 33 reports of fire and explosion incidents at the time of publication. Four minor burn injuries and one report of substantial property damage have been reported.
So, what should you do if you have one of these models? The CPSC says you should immediately stop using the recalled power banks and visit Anker’s Recall Page at https://www.anker.com/rc2506 to verify the product serial number and register for the recall.
Consumers with impacted products should contact Anker Innovations Limited to receive a full cash refund or an Anker gift card that can be used on other Anker products.
To receive a refund or gift card, consumers must submit a photo of their recalled power bank that shows the model number, serial number, their name, the date of the photograph, and the word “recalled” written on the power bank in permanent marker.
It’s essential to note that you should not dispose of the recalled lithium-ion battery or device in the trash, recycling, or in battery recycling boxes.
These power banks were sold at Best Buy, Target, Amazon, Walmart, AliExpress, eBay, and on TikTok from August 2023 through June 2025 for between $30 and $50.
Make sure you check your portable chargers to see if they are impacted by this recall. We’ll be on the lookout for additional recalls you need to know about. In the meantime, don’t forget to stay tuned to the Disney Food Blog for the latest travel news and more!
