There are two types of Disney Adults out there — those who were born and raised in the fandom, and those who chose it in their older years.
And if you’re part of the first group, then you’ve been having some magical moments throughout your whole life. Today, we’re sharing some of the most iconic experiences Disney Adults had as kids!
First, if you’re a Disney Adult, it’s a given that you were once obsessed with one specific Disney movie. Whether it was Cars, Beauty and the Beast, or Alice in Wonderland, you probably watched that film on repeat until your parents could quote the entire thing from top to bottom.
If your family went to Disney World on vacation, there are probably some peak childhood moments you remember from those trips. Stepping inside Mickey and Minnie’s houses was iconic for many, while others fondly remember playing the wild games inside Innoventions at EPCOT.
Of course, we probably all have pictures of our younger selves standing awkwardly in front of Cinderella Castle with siblings, eating a rapidly melting Mickey bar, or giving the biggest hug to our favorite character (back in the days when they used to roam the parks more freely!).
Because of all those memories associated with your trips growing up, maybe you shed a few tears when you watched Illuminations at EPCOT for the last time, or maybe you seriously debated writing a letter to The Walt Disney Company when they decided to take away Muppet*Vision 3D. But those memories and strong feelings of attachment to something magical? That’s what draws us together as a community!
So for those of you who consider yourselves parts of the Disney Adults community, or those who don’t quite call themselves Disney Adults but are fascinated by the history and psychology of it all, we have just the thing for you! Our founder here at DFB, AJ, wrote a brand-new book called Disney Adults, and it delves into all these topics.
This book explores our rather unique subculture, delving into the “why” and “how” of Disney Adults. It’s full of anecdotes from people who’ve lived the life, and stories from fans who were captured by the fun of a fantasy land and an anthropomorphic mouse. It’s the ultimate vacation read, especially if your vacation is taking you to The Most Magical Place on Earth.
So if you haven’t gotten yourself a copy, what are you waiting for?! It’s available now in bookstores, on Amazon, and even as an audiobook.
Stay tuned to DFB for more Disney news and updates!
