Just a few days ago, a popular Magic Kingdom attraction went under refurbishment for a short period of time, with a set reopening date of July 26th.
There she is!
So we headed to the park bright and early to check out the ride to see what had changed…and found that it wasn’t open just yet. We thought it was just a minor delay, but let’s just say, we’ve since been proven VERY wrong.
Under the Sea – Journey of the Little Mermaid was scheduled to be under refurbishment from July 21st-25th, meaning its first day of operation should have been the 26th. Nothing was supposed to change in the attraction; it’s just supposed to be for routine maintenance.
Looks really empty…
We last checked on the ride at 3 PM, and it was STILL closed, meaning it hadn’t been open ALL DAY. Cast Members at the attraction weren’t able to give us any information about a potential reopening time, so it’s possible that something with the refurbishment is taking longer than anticipated.
Still closed!
While this ride isn’t one of the most popular in the park, it’s a great filler attraction that’s fantastic for all ages, and is super nostalgic for those who love The Little Mermaid. It’s a classic, omnimover dark ride attraction, meaning it’s constantly moving, so it has quite a large rider capacity (even though each seashell only fits 2-3 people).
