As it turns out, you may be leaving behind MORE than just a few hundred dollars and all of your energy after a long day at the Disney Parks…
After spending hours at the parks, the first thing you’ll want to do is catch a ride back to your hotel if you’re visiting from out of town without a car. Disney World offers tons of free transportation options, but if you’re looking for something more intimate and maybe quicker (dealing with no lines), you may opt for a rideshare service. Unfortunately, the rideshare service Uber says Disney World tourists who use their service are making a crucial mistake.
According to its 2025 Lost and Found Index, Uber listed the top 50 most unique lost items in their cars (such as DNA testing kits, chainsaws, and 10 live lobsters), as well as the 10 most forgotten items (such as wallets, keys, and water bottles) and the top 10 most forgetful cities. While Miami was the only city to crack the top 10, Disney World was home to a very concerning trend.
According to Uber:
“From Minnie ears to Simba stuffed animals, Disney fans have been leaving behind their most treasured park merch. It’s a small world after all—but a big heartbreak when your Disney magic takes a detour.”
It’s honestly not too surprising. If you aren’t exhausted after a long Disney day, consider yourself one of the lucky few. We can become careless while fatigued — and that includes leaving items in strangers’ cars.
So what’s the remedy? A Disney World vacation isn’t cheap, and neither are those special souvenirs you picked up at the park. Therefore, the first step is to do everything you can to treat these gifts like rare gold. That means taking inventory before you enter the vehicle, while you’re in the vehicle, and right before you exit the vehicle — a mental checklist, if you will. It’s also a great idea to hold on tight to your souvenirs during your ride.
But hey — accidents happen. If you lost an item during an Uber trip, there are ways to get it back! Uber detailed an 8-step process for recovering your missing souvenir, and it’s as follows:
- Open the Uber app and tap “Activity” on the bottom icon menu
- Select the trip on which you lost the item
- Scroll down to “Find lost item” in the Help section, and then select “Contact driver about a lost item”
- Select the item you lost from the options listed, and where you think the item might be in the vehicle
- Enter your phone number to call the driver
- If you can reach the driver and they confirm that your item has been found, you can mutually coordinate a time and place to meet up and get it returned
- If your driver doesn’t answer, leave a voicemail describing your item and the best way to contact you
- If you forgot your registered phone, you can sign in online to help.uber.com to receive assistance
