Disneyland is home to some pretty solid dining options — so you can’t blame us for trying EVERYTHING. From sit-down restaurants to small bars, we’re trying it all. Come along for our latest review!
We recently stopped by Sonoma Terrace at Disney California Adventure to try some snacks and drinks! Is it worth a stop on your next trip to this popular California theme park? We have plenty of thoughts!
Atmosphere
Sonoma Terrace is an outdoor bar located right next to Wine Country Trattoria in Disney California Adventure’s Performance Corridor.
While seating is all outdoors, there are plenty of built-in and tree-provided shaded areas.
There’s also a good variety of seating, with tables lined up under the roof, high-top tables next to the main pathway, two-person tables near the wall closer to Wine Country, and comfy couches with soft padding and coffee tables along the entrance.
Most of the seating options are shaded, or are at least shaded during certain parts of the day.
This Californian wine-country themed area is a great hidden spot to sit back and relax, offering more of a mature vibe with guitar music playing on speakers and a setting that combats the natural chaos of a theme park.
It’s one of the more adult areas accessible to everyone regardless of age, and an awesome spot to slow down during a busy park day.
Menu
This spot offers a simple lounge menu featuring small bites, ready-made cocktails, draft beer, bottled beer, hard cider, wine, and some non-alcoholic soda options.
This is not really a restaurant — you’re here more so to drink and relax, rather than to chow down on a meal. With that in mind, let’s get to the selections we tried!
Eats
Food offerings are incredibly limited here, and you’ll only find a Bavarian Pretzel for $8. You can also add on a Cheese Cup side for an additional $1.50, which we did.
It’s hard to go wrong with a giant pretzel, and we’re happy to report this offering gets a thumbs up from us. It’s a reliably tasty snack and super shareable. We felt ours could use a bit more salt, but it’s a minor complaint.
The Cheese Cup was essentially plastic cheese, and it dominated the flavor profile — so only add this on if you like plastic cheese.
The price is pretty fair (especially if you have any discounts), considering it is a shareable size of a very safe, yet delicious Disney snack.
Drinks
For drinks, we started with the Pineapple Passion for $17.50. This cocktail is made with white rum with flavors of pineapple and passionfruit.
Poured into a cup from a bottle, this cocktail is a mixed bag. It was thicker in texture than we expected — not quite a syrup but sort of like a piña colada mix texture. It was pretty fruit-heavy with plenty of summer flavors that allowed the passionfruit to star. The pineapple blended in, and we could just barely taste it, however.
We liked it, but didn’t love it at this price.
Next, we tried the Craftwell Hibiscus Lemonade for $15. This drink offers flavors of hibiscus and lemons (ABV 10.5%).
Poured into a cup from a can, this drink is overpowered by hibiscus, so if you’re not a fan of that flavor, definitely avoid this lemonade. There’s a bit of carbonation with this one that’s not unlike a seltzer, and we did find it refreshing.
Still, it’s nothing special, and $15 just seems like too much, especially when you’re in a theme park known for some pretty great drinks.
Nosh or Not
This DCA lounge is worth a visit if…
- YOU NEED A BREAK. It’s located in a very scenic area of the park and offers laid-back vibes. There are worse things to do than grab a breather and a cocktail here while you decompress and collect your second wind.
- YOU WANT A PRETZEL. Mickey Pretzels are great, but the Bavarian option here is really awesome and not that much more expensive than a regular pretzel.
- YOU LOVE WINE AND BEER. We didn’t try any for this review, but there are tons of options that are sure to please all kinds of beer and wine enjoyers!
You should skip Sonoma Terrace if…
- YOU WANT A MEAL. This is not a restaurant. Wine Country next door is your best bet for full entrees and a wide array of appetizers.
- YOU WANT TO KEEP THE MOMENTUM GOING. If you’re in the zone during your park day, visiting Sonoma Terrace will likely take you out of it. For many guests, that’s actually ideal. However, if you want to keep the adrenaline going and not risk crashing after leaning back on a comfy couch, keep on walking.
- YOU CRAVE EXCITING COCKTAILS. Our drinks were essentially pre-made, and while that’ll do the trick for some, others crave real craftsmanship with their drinks. Carthay Circle Lounge near the park’s entrance is a more than suitable substitution.
Overall
Sonoma Terrace is solid with its offerings, and we recommend coming here for the wine, beer, vibes, and relaxed seating. There are better cocktails elsewhere, but if you don’t mind simple, this is still a great spot to visit.
