We recently said goodbye to Muppets Courtyard in Disney’s Hollywood Studios, and we’re anxiously awaiting the arrival of the Muppets at Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster.
In the meantime, Disney has been busy building a brand new Monsters, Inc. land in the old Muppets Courtyard. We’ve previously seen some aerial photos of the work being done, as well as seen just how huge the new Monsters, Inc. ride will be, as well as where it will be located. Well, now we’ve got a construction update on the Monsters, Inc. land with new aerial photos.
As we mentioned, we’ve previously seen the location for the new Monsters, Inc. ride, which will be Disney’s first suspended roller coaster EVER (and we are SO excited). The new ride will recreate the doors scene from the first Monsters, Inc. movie, and honestly, IT’S ABOUT TIME WE GOT THIS RIDE. Some new aerial photos by @bioreconstruct give us a new close-up look at the location where the ride will go, which is a Cast Member parking lot that has recently been cleared for construction.
We also know just where the show building is going in that space. These yellow lines indicate the Monsters, Inc. ride’s show building space. So it looks like the show building won’t take up the whole space of the former parking lot, but it still looks like the space that isn’t the show building might still be part of the new land.
So what does the rest of Monsters, Inc. land look like right now? Well, Muppets fans…brace yourselves because this could hurt a little. We previously noticed that the Miss Piggy fountain is now officially gone (although we really hope she turns up somewhere else because that fountain was EPIC). Some signs and things have also been removed, and the land is starting to look a little bare as it gets ready for its transformation.
Here’s a look at the land from another angle.
Another aerial photo shows demolition work being done in front of what was once PizzeRizzo (the sign still seems to be up for that restaurant, though — rat pizza is gone, but not forgotten).
Disney has not revealed an official timeline for the new land’s opening, but it looks like construction progress is moving right along. We’ll be keeping an eye out for more construction updates, so stay tuned to DFB for more.

“ it looks like construction progress is MOVING RIGHT ALONG…”
I saw what you did there.
PizzeRizzo had the BEST quick service salad on property! I hope they continue to serve it in one of the other quick service locations. It’s hard to find a good salad at WDW 🙁
It’s cool to see little snippets of the transformation in process! As sad as I am to say goodbye to Muppets Courtyard, I’m very excited for a new land and rides
