Big news for Florida!
A new bill signed by Governor Ron DeSantis would require restaurants to clearly list automatic tips on menus, websites, and bills in 2026.
One part of the bill that affects automatic tips will take effect on July 1st, 2026. Automatic gratuity needs to be clearly listed on menus, written contracts, website, and mobile apps, which includes the amount of percentage of the operations charge and the purpose of the operations charge.”
Restaurants won’t be able to add extra fees and automatic gratuity to the check without fully warning guests beforehand. The receipt would also need separate lines for gratuity, operations charges, and sales tax. This is to make sure the customer knows what they are being charged and why.
How would this affect your Disney World trip? Automatic gratuity will need to be listed clearly on checks at restaurants throughout the state.
It should also be noted that this does not include dining plans, dining packages, or a fixed-price meal since “the price of the plan or package or meal is disclosed to the customer before purchase.”
The automatic gratuity listings do not go into effect next year, but we’ll be keeping an eye on this bill and any others that can affect your Disney World trip. Keep following Disney Food Blog for more.

Why ask how we feel? Disney is making the changes no matter what we think! Imo just another bad decision based on corporate greed. Many guests have already voiced their negative opinions and offered wonderful, alternate suggestions to keep the waterway, boat and island with new uses plus have cars land elsewhere on property…. But Disney doesn’t care…. We have no interest in a cars land (or villains land or show)!
I think this is a good change. More and more restaurants are slipping in extra fees that are easy to miss on the bill.
Hello
Absolutely agree with Cates statement on the removal of the waterway and boat removal. We have always enjoyed this area to chill out. I think this is a huge mistake of Disney.
On another note, the Mexican dishes in the above photo..could you let me know where we would find that…what location.
Thank you,
Joan🇨🇦💫
The Mexican food looks like somewhere in Epcot.
I am happy about the identification of fees on the receipt. I was there recently and we had 3 tickets at Tony’s Town Square. Two tickets had the tip included and one ticket did not. But only one person at our 8 party table caught it and said something before we paid.
Disney is already way overpriced just to get in there. An average family has to Dave for years just to spend a week there.
I’m actually going in 3 weeks for an adult funcation Haven’t been since my kids were kids (25 yrs ago) I will definitely be looking at all my bills. I love the fact they have to be descriptive in their billing practices.
I have not noticed this to be a problem at WDW. They state that a mandatory tip will be added to parties of a certain size and larger, and suggested tips amounts are printed on the receipt. Even with the mandatory tip, you can appeal to a manager to have it lowered if your service was particularly bad. This is going to have more effect on restaurants in the real world that have been less forthcoming.
And yes, the Mexican food appears to be from La Cantina de San Angel in Epcot, a quick service spot.
