A new hotel will be coming soon to Los Angeles! According to KTLA, the Los Angeles City Council approved expansion plans for a new 18-story tower at the Hilton Los Angeles/Universal City Hotel.
This new tower will be expanding the current building that is 24-stories on E. Universal Hollywood Drive.
On January 22nd, 2025, the Los Angeles City Council approved the expansion plans that would include a new building and 395 guest rooms. The expansion will also have three restaurants, a spa, an indoor/outdoor bar, and two pools. Additionally, there will be a meeting room and a parking garage.
These expansion plans for the hotel were announced in 2017 and have now been approved by the Los Angeles City Council. With this new expansion the Hilton Los Angeles/Universal City Hotel will occupy a 7.26-acre site and feature 890 guest rooms and 696,609 square feet of space.
Mark Davis, president and CEO of Sun Hill Properties Inc., said in a statement that, “we owe these additional rooms to the region as we prepare to host the 2028 Olympic Games and tourism numbers continue to rise.” The Hilton Los Angeles/Universal City Hotel is currently a 4-star hotel that is located right next to Universal Studios Hollywood.
This hotel is a popular choice for travelers who are visiting Universal Studios Hollywood, and we are excited to see that the space will be expanded, and additional hotel rooms will be built. In addition to this expansion of the Hilton Los Angeles/Universal City Hotel, Universal Studios Hollywood has been undergoing a large transformation.
Universal Studios Hollywood has been transforming as part of their Universal Evolution Plan which includes “additions to the existing studio, theme park, retail and entertainment uses including CityWalk, and the introduction of new hotels on approximately 391 acres in the Universal City area.”
