Flight cancellations and delays are a given when faced with major storms, especially when it comes to a storm as massive as Hurricane Milton.

In the wake of bracing for the impact on Florida and Disney World hurrying to close down the theme parks safely for their Cast Members and visitors, there are even more closures we knew to anticipate but may have underestimated the quantity of.
If you’ve been keeping tabs on the latest rippling effects of Hurricane Milton, we’ve got an update on one of the most immediate. While it stands to reason that there would be hundreds of flights canceled when Orlando International Airport announced it was ceasing commercial operations, the latest totals have put things into perspective on how much we’ve relied on air transportation.

All parks closed
In the latest trackings for MCO, FlightAware has reported that over 900 flights in total have been canceled flying into and out of Orlando. This total includes all flights both international and domestic.

As of the latest, MCO had suspended any passenger commercial flights that were non-emergency related and remained available for air traffic needing to come in to aid with the storm. However, when checking the cancelations for today, we also noticed that 14 flights scheduled (assuming for emergency relief efforts) have also been delayed with no word yet on how long that delay may be.

Orlando International Airport
At 9AM on Thursday, October 10th, Orlando Airport posted an update saying that emergency crews remained onsite overnight and damage assessment is happening now. After that is complete, the airport will be able to determine when it is safe to resume commercial flights.
