Big things are happening at the Disneyland Resort!

A possible Disneyland expansion, officially known as DisneylandForward, has been in play since March 2021 and we could be moving closer to a decision/progress in the near future. During a recent Anaheim City Council meeting, developers went into more detail about what expansion could feature, including what would be a VERY popular new land!

Over the past several years, DisneylandForward has evolved into a multi-year Disneyland and Anaheim Resort expansion and redesign. The proposed plan would put $1.9 billion over the next decade in an effort to expand the area’s lodging, retail, parking, dining options, and theme parks. The plan would eventually be in effect for 40 years and transform the resort into something bigger and better — a unified entertainment center.

Part of the expansion talks on Disney’s end was the idea that this plan would allow Disney to bring more innovative and immersive attractions to the parks. During the city council meeting, Disney referenced a few of its other lands overseas, such as Zootopia Land at Shanghai Disney Resort and Rapunzel’s Forest at Tokyo DisneySea. World of Frozen at Hong Kong Disneyland was also mentioned by name, further adding fuel to the speculation that Frozen could be coming to Anaheim in a big way.

So where could Disney put a Frozen Land at the Disneyland Resort? Disney is already about to use some space at Disney California Adventure (DCA) for a mysterious Avatar project and, apparently, the company has even bigger plans for the theme park. With the aid of expansion, DisneylandForward proposes adding Frozen entertainment (similar to what’s available in Hong Kong) to Disney California Adventure. The proposal also suggests even more lands, attractions, and entertainment options coming to DCA with mentions of Zootopia, Toy Story Land, and Tron.

The proposal also includes Peter Pan and Tangled expansions at Disneyland Park.

World of Frozen

If Frozen were to come over to DCA in the form of a brand new land or attractions, we have a reference to speculate what that entertainment could be. Hong Kong Disneyland’s World of Frozen boasts a peaceful and prosperous Arendelle with three shops, three restaurants, a playhouse, Frozen Ever After, and the family coaster Wandering Oaken’s Sliding Sleighs.

If expansion is approved, it is very likely Frozen will come to the Disneyland Resort. Disney is clearly banking on the Frozen intellectual property, as Frozen lands and expansions are already underway for Fantasy Springs at Tokyo DisneySea and Walt Disney Studios Park in France. With the infrastructure already in place for future Frozen expansion, it would make sense for Disney to continue the trend in Anaheim.
