NEW Details Announced For Disney's 'Zootopia' Land!

The mammals of Zootopia will soon be welcoming you to the city!

The movie Zootopia follows Officer Judy Hopps on a fast-paced adventure with Nick Wilde through the city of Zootopia. Soon, you’ll be able to immerse yourself in this city and take on your own adventures. Now, Disney just released three new details on what we can expect in this new Shanghai Disney Resort land.

Zootopia opens for all guests to experience the movie in real life on December 20th at Shanghai Disney Resort. We’re so excited to be fully immersed in this tale of heroism and have our own mammalian adventures. Disney has given a sneak peek at what we can expect when we visit, soon!

First, Disney announced that when we step foot into this new land we will be fully immersed in it. The city, completely modeled after the digital community, will be alive in front of our eyes with amazing buildings and designs from the Imagineering and Art teams. You’ll be able to visit places like Zootopia Transit Authority, the plaza, and Lemming Brothers Bank.

Over 140 different disciplines were able to bring the city from the film to real life. Intricate carvings and paintings will help you feel like you are really part of the movie and the adventure.

Disney is also bringing the beloved characters to life using state-of-the-art animatronics that are completely new to Shanghai Disney. They have digital eyes with physical characteristics so they can show more emotion and expression than ever before.

You’ll find characters like Officer Clawhauser, Chief Bogo, Judy Hopps, and Nick Wilde in the city with such believable attributes and expressions that you’ll feel like they “stepped right off the screen” and be able to connect with you.

Disney is also bringing a trackless ride system to the city for the ride Zootopia: Hot Pursuit. You’ll find yourself sliding across the ice and flying onto the busy streets of Sahara Square. Then you’ll go “plummeting from the canopies in a gondola in the Rainforest District.” You’ll be racing through the city taking turns, spins, slides, and drops while the story is brought to life.

According to Disney, “Innovative ride and show technologies like those employed on Zootopia: Hot Pursuit open the door for new types of storytelling, letting us surprise and delight in ways never before imagined, giving the ultimate immersive Zootopia experience!”

After the full immersive experience we had in World of Frozen, we can only imagine how this Zootopia land will compare. The Imagineering team continues to find ways to outdo themselves. Also, remember that there will be an all-new Zootopia show coming to Disney World’s Animal Kingdom at the Tree of Life!
