OPENING DATE Announced for Disney's NEW 'Zootopia' Land

A Zootopia-themed land has been in the works for a while over at Shanghai Disney Resort, and we’ve even seen the state-of-the-art technology and animatronics coming to this spot. Disney had previously announced that the land would open in late 2023, but now we’ve got an official opening date!

Disney announced that the new Zootopia land at Shanghai Disney Resort will open on December 20, 2023!

We knew folks would get to experience this new land sometime this year, but now that we’ve got an official opening date you can really start planning your visit. Disney has already shared a ton of sneak peeks and news about what we can expect from this land, and we can’t wait.

The brand NEW attraction in this land will be called Zootopia: Hot Pursuit, where you’ll become a “rookie police officer at the Zootopia Police Department (ZPD)!” The ride is set chronologically after the timeline of the Zootopia film. All of the residents of Zootopia are getting ready for a big concert that celebrates Zootopia Day featuring Gazelle (of course).

Zootopia Day is meant to be “the day where predator and prey unite to celebrate the harmony of their beloved city.”

On top of the new ride, there will be “one-of-a-kind live entertainment experiences” meant to bring Zootopia’s residents to life. Of course, there will also be new snacks to snag from Jumbeaux’s Cafe featuring the ICONIC paw-shaped popsicle, a Chocolate Marshmallow, Officer Clawhauser’s favorite donuts, and more.
