We’ve done EVERY SINGLE ride in Disney World. And we know the best tips and secrets for all of them!
Besides doing every ride, we’ve used Genie+ and Individual Lightning Lanes dozens of times in the parks, which means that we have quite a bit of experience with handling those systems. That’s why, today, we’re here to tell you about the BEST Individual Lightning Lane in Disney World…and we’ve got proof.
Which Individual Lightning Lane do we think is better than all the rest? Well, it also happens to be the newest one — TRON Lightcycle / Run. We’ve got a few reasons for our answer, but mainly, we need to talk about the queue.
With most Individual Lightning Lanes, you end up skipping a large portion of the queue to get on the ride faster. While that may save you lots of time, it’ll also mean that you might miss some fun Easter eggs or theming details that Disney added to entertain the guests in line. But the great thing about the TRON Lightning Lane? You still get to experience everything…just with a shorter wait!
The first part of the TRON Lightcycle / Run queue is outdoors (and very boring!), and thankfully, the Lightning Lane skips ALL of that. From there, you’ll head straight to the pre-show, which is the same as the pre-show that the guests who used the virtual queue see.
After that, you get to walk directly above the launch zone for the coaster, just like the other guests. This is one of the coolest views in the queue!
Once that’s done, you’ll head down a separate hallway from the regular guests — but don’t worry, you’ll still get to watch the same pre-ride video that the others see in the queue. The difference is that you’ll get to watch without zigzagging back and forth throughout a large room — you’ve just got one hallway before you’re dropped off at the lockers.
At the lockers, the two lines will merge, and then you’ll be mixed in with the standby queue people (the ones who used the virtual queue). From there, you may have a short wait to board the ride, but it’ll likely be significantly less than what those without Lightning Lane waited.
In fact, using the virtual queue, there have been multiple times where we’ve had to wait an hour or more in line after we arrived at the ride. That’s an hour of your Magic Kingdom day that could’ve been spent eating Dole Whip, enjoying a sit-down meal, or riding a bunch of other attractions! That’s why the Individual Lightning Lane here is our favorite. It saves time, AND you get the same queue experience.
So next time you’re in Magic Kingdom, you may want to consider paying extra to use the Lightning Lane for TRON Lightcycle / Run. Of course, the virtual queue is free, so if you’re on a budget, there’s nothing wrong with that option — just remember that you’ll probably have to wait in a bit of a standby line.
