Is Disney World's Dole Whip Cupcake As Good As It Sounds?

Do you have a favorite Dole Whip snack? Maybe it’s just the classic Pineapple Soft-Serve Dole Whip that we all know and love.

Maybe you’ve discovered the deliciousness of the Pineapple Upside-Down Cake which has Dole Whip on top, or maybe you’re a fan of the Watermelon Dole Whip Taco. Whatever the case, Dole Whip Day has arrived and we’re celebrating with some brand NEW Dole Whip snacks — will one of them be your new favorite?

So let’s look at the Dole Whip Cupcake for $5.79, which is a yellow cupcake served with Dole Whip mousse and garnished with a cherry. We’ve had something VERY similar before, so how does it compare?

We liked this cupcake! The cake itself is very moist and we really enjoyed the pineapple filling in the center of the cupcake. The consistency was almost that of pudding, but it had a very fresh pineapple flavor, which we liked a lot.

So, you may be looking at this cupcake and wondering to yourself: “How do they achieve that perfect cone of frosting on top of the cupcake without it falling over?” We’ve got the answer. They take the cake they removed from the cupcake to fill it and put it on top of the cupcake, frosting around that, so the amount of frosting is reduced. This may be a big disappointment for those who think frosting is the best part because there’s definitely way more cake than there is frosting.

They put the excess cake on top!

We thought this tasted pretty similar to a traditional Dole Whip, but it is slightly sweeter, so if you’re looking for something that’s not too sweet, or you’re not a fan of pineapple and tropical flavors, we would probably steer clear of this one. All in all, the regular Dole Whip still reigns supreme. Contempo Cafe has tons of options if you’re looking for your sugar fix, like the 50th Anniversary German Chocolate Cupcake!
