We’re at EPCOT. We’re eating our body weight in cheese. You know what that means?
YEP, that’s right, it’s time for the 2022 EPCOT International Food & Wine Festival! This year’s fest has several fun activities, live entertainment, new merchandise, and so much more, but you know that we’re really here for the FOOD. And now, it’s time to head to the Kenya booth to see what it has to offer!
Menu
Over at the Kenya booth, you’ll find three items this year! We’ve got two returning eats that past visitors may want to check out (a beef item and a shrimp item), along with a beer option.
But does the small menu hold up against other booths? Let’s check it out!
Eats
First up, we’ve got the Kenyan Coffee Barbecued Beef Tenderloin served with sweet potato and corn mealie pap and kachumbari slaw. It’s gluten and wheat allergy-friendly! The presentation of this item is really great, and the flavors are bright and interesting. It has somewhat of a perfumed, floral note, and we really appreciated the added texture from the carrots. The meat was just a tad dry, although it wasn’t super noticeable with all those toppings. We enjoyed it a lot, but this would probably be a challenge for picky eaters because the flavors are a bit more exotic that other beef dishes at the festival. Order this one for $6.
The other option here at the Kenya booth is the Piri Piri Skewered Shrimp with citrus-scented couscous. It’s $6.75 and boy is it interesting! This is definitely one of those eats that’s more for adventurous eaters, considering the floral flavors of the couscous and shrimp. We would describe this meal as “exciting,” so if you’re hoping to try something a little more outside the box, it might be a good option for you. The shrimp was juicy and well-cooked, but like the beef, the flavors are definitely more geared towards adventurous palettes.
So how does the Kenya booth stack up overall?
Overall
In general, we think this booth is a great option for those who like bold flavor combinations and unique eats. If you’re looking for run-of-the-mill food that feels familiar, you might want to go elsewhere. Both eats here had floral notes, so you’ll need to like that type of food to enjoy the Kenya booth, but for those who do…this might be a BIG hit.
We’ve tried a wide variety of unique eats for the Food & Wine Festival, from french fries to wings to plant-based options, and there really is something for everyone this year! If you’re planning a trip to EPCOT in the coming months, we’ve got quite a few thoughts on what you should eat and drink during this festival.
We’ll continue checking out all the other booths at this year’s EPCOT International Food & Wine Festival, so make sure to stay tuned to DFB for all the reviews and news!
