MORE on How Your Phone Will Become a MagicBand in Disney World

Earlier this month, Disney announced some exciting new tech for your smart device.

The MagicMobile service enables your smart device — your phone, Apple Watch, etc. — to function as your MagicBand! And while the feature won’t replace MagicBands entirely (you’ll still be able to choose designs based on your favorite characters, attractions, and more!), it provides an alternative for those who want everything streamlined down to one device.

Disney stated that the MagicMobile service would roll out in phases throughout the year, and we’re already seeing hints of it on the My Disney Experience app! You’ll now find MagicMobile on the app’s main menu alongside other features like Mobile Order and virtual queues.

When you click on that MagicMobile Pass button, you’re redirected to a screen that teases that the feature is coming soon! It also lets ya know that your MagicMobile Pass will be able to tap you into theme parks and link your PhotoPass photos.

And by scrolling further down, we learn about Express Mode! For your personal profile, you can tap your phone near touch points without unlocking it. For family or friends linked to your account, you’ll have to open the pass itself to redeem.
