As a countermeasure to the spread of COVID-19, California Governor Gavin Newsom implemented a system where stay-at-home orders were enacted in regions that fell below 15% ICU capacity.
Several regions, including Southern California where Disneyland Resort is located, were put under these stay-at-home orders. Now, after California has begun to see recovery from the ICU capacity reaching 0%, the California government has lifted both the stay-at-home orders and the enacted curfew.
According to the Orange County Register, state health officials have announced that the regional stay-at-home orders have been lifted as has the 10PM to 5AM curfew. The change will allow many businesses (restaurants included) to resume outdoor operations. Newsom is expected to speak at a press conference later today.
This change will return the state to a system of county-by-county restrictions determined by the local governments. According to OCR, “The change will allow businesses such as restaurants to resume outdoor operations in many areas, though local officials could choose to continue stricter rules.”
As of the weekend, the Southern California region remained at 0% ICU capacity. The state government makes policy changes based on a four-week projection model.
As mentioned, this change does mean that restaurants may be able to reopen for outdoor dining. Therefore, we could see the return of outdoor dining at Downtown Disney soon. During the orders, they were limited to to-go orders only. We’ll be sure to take a look at what this means for Disneyland. As always, stay tuned to DFB for the latest updates!
