Move over Christmas treats, it’s time for New Year snacks to arrive!
With 2021 just around the corner, we’re gearing up to visit EPCOT’s Festival of the Arts, try out the modified Park Hopping, and see what’s going on with MagicBands. However, since we’re a food blog, one of the things we’re most excited to check out is all the holiday snacks! Today, we stopped by Animal Kingdom to pick up the New Year’s Eve Cupcake!
The New Year’s Eve Cupcake is available over at Flame Tree Barbecue in Disney’s Animal Kingdom. We picked one up using the Mobile Order system for $5.99.
The design on this one is really cute! With an animal print Mickey head, crispy pearls, and a golden “2021” on the top. This cupcake is really getting into the Animal Kingdom vibe.
The Mobile Order listing said that the cupcake would only be available on New Year’s Eve, but it seems like the treat arrived at the restaurant a little early.
As far as flavors go, it’s made with chocolate cake, amaretto frosting, and a cherry filling, which sounds like a pretty unique combination from what we’re used to seeing! The chocolate cake was very moist and the cherry filling is very similar to what you’d find in a pie, with whole cherries on the inside.
There was a LOT of amaretto frosting on our cupcake, and the amaretto flavor was pretty prominent. Altogether, we thought that the unique combinations on this cupcake worked really well together, so well in fact, that our reporter didn’t have ANY suggestions on how it could be improved!
We’re pretty impressed with you, New Year’s Eve cupcake — maybe even so impressed that we’d go back to get another one before it leaves! The only people who might not be fond of this one are those who don’t like chocolate or cherries, otherwise, we definitely recommend this treat.
