Disney World is encouraging the use of virtual check-ins for dining, hotels, and Mobile Orders.
Earlier, we reported on Disney’s new Mobile Checkout feature that allows you to scan and purchase items in a Disney gift shop. The system was being tested in Disneyland then made its way to Mouse Gear in EPCOT. One more gift shop has been added to the virtual check out option in Disney World!
Disney’s Pop Century Resort is now part of the testing phase of the Mobile Checkout system. You can use the system inside the gift shop area at Everything POP Shopping and Dining.
As a reminder, once you enter the gift shop grab a designated Mobile Checkout bag for your purchases. Scan the QR code on the sign and it will direct you to the app or you can access it directly from the My Disney Experience app.
Choose the items you want to purchase and scan the barcodes using the Mobile Checkout feature in the app.
The app should recognize the barcode and add it to your cart. We scanned a bag of candy and it pulled up the purchase!
Once you’re finished shopping, checkout using the app. The app will generate a QR code and some information about your purchases.
You’ll show the QR code in the app to the Cast Members upon exiting. The Cast Member will confirm your purchases using the code. We suggest taking a screenshot of this code just in case the app loses it. (It’s happened to us before!)
The entire process is digital and your receipt will be sent to your email address linked to your My Disney Experience app!
Keep in mind that the feature is still undergoing tests. Feel free to ask a Cast Member for help if you run into any interruptions! We’ll keep an eye out for more gift shops that adopt this new option!
