Happy holidays, y’all! We are at EPCOT eating our way around the world at the 2020 Taste of EPCOT International Festival of the Holidays!
And we are getting our Feliz Navidad on with all of the food from Las Posadas Holiday Kitchen, which has a menu filled with a new item, a tweak on a menu item from last year, and a returning snack!
This spot is serving up Giant Tostada de Chorizo, Tamal de Pollo, and Dulce de Leche Churros for snacking. You can also quench your thirst with Tulum Mexican Craft Beer, a Pumpkin Spice Margarita, or a Horchata Margarita. Just the names of these items are making us hungry, so let’s start eating!
Food
First up, we dove into the Giant Tostada de Chorizo for $9.25 which got a little change from last year’s Giant Tostada de Puerco. That was among our best of the fest 2019. Last year’s tostada featured braised pork and looked like this:
But this year, the Giant Tostada has chorizo, along with chipotle black bean purée, salsa verde, queso cotija, crema Mexicana, and pickled onion. It has lots of spice and a nice bit of heat, and the tostada is super crunchy and tastes fresh. The spiciest component was the chipotle black bean purée! The pickled onion also adds a nice bit of flavor while the crema cools it all down. You could totally make a mini-meal out of this! We really loved this one!!
We also tried the new Dulce de Leche Churros for $5.50. We’ve had our FILL of churros this year at Disney World (J/K we will never have enough!), but these churros were pretty perfect with a nice crunch on the outside and a sweet filling on the inside. What’s nice here is that there’s not SO much filling that it makes the churros soggy because nobody wants soggy churros!
There’s also the returning Tamal de Pollo which is Braised Chipotle Chicken into a Corn Masa tamale. It’s topped with Yellow Mole and Toasted Pumpkin Seeds, Queso Cotija and Crema Mexicana. Last year, we really enjoyed this and think that fans of tamales would be pleased with the flavorful queso cotija and crunchy pumpkin seeds. It’s $6.75.
Drinks
How could we resist the NEW Pumpkin Spice Margarita made with Tomba Blanco Tequila, Ojo de Tigre Mezcal, Nixta Corn Liqueur, Pumpkin Spice Purée, and Lime-Agave Juice with Cinnamon-Sugar Rim? Answer — we couldn’t!
This $12.50 drink is UH-mazing. This isn’t your typical lime-forward margarita. In fact, it’s kind of a stretch to call this a margarita (there IS a hint of lime in the agave juice), but we’re not complaining. You can really taste the cinnamon and nutmeg and those flavors mix well with the smokiness of the Mezcal. We also liked that the drink wasn’t super sweet. But if you’re not big pumpkin spice fans like we are, you might not be as impressed.
We also had to try the Tulum Mexican Craft Beer with a Blackcurrant and Ginger Liqueur Floater for $6.50. This tasted like a beer and mule mixed together. We loved that we could taste the ginger with each sip and that it wasn’t too sweet. This one is another winner!
It’s no secret that we love Horchata drinks, so the returning Horchata Margarita for $11.50 is always a win for us! This drink is made with Casa Noble Blanco Tequila, Abasolo Corn Whiskey, Horchata Rum, Agua de Horchata, and a hint of Cinnamon-infused Mezcal Liqueur. It’s creamy and goes down smooth. Oh, yeah!
If these sound like your kind of items, you can find them at Las Posadas Holiday Kitchen at the Mexico Pavilion now through December 30th at the Taste of EPCOT’s International Festival of the Holidays! And stay tuned to DFB as we keep eating our way around the world!
