Disney Gift Cards Experienced Technical Difficulties Earlier Today on Mobile Order

Last week, Disney experienced some technical difficulties with its gift card system and various stores and restaurants in the parks were unable to accept Disney Gift Cards and Disney Rewards Redemption Cards for a period of time.

A Cast Member advised us last week that the problem was later resolved, but it looks like the technical issues returned earlier today.

As we went to place a Mobile Order on our My Disney Experience app, we were met with the following message indicating that, at this time, guests may encounter an issue using their Disney Gift Cards or Disney Rewards Redemption Cards to complete and pay for their mobile order. The notice states that Disney is working to fix the issue and that guests experiencing this issue are advised to place their order using an alternate form of payment.

When we went back into the system to place our order later, however, the message did not appear.

Last week, when Disney was experiencing technical difficulties with gift cards in the parks, one Cast Member mentioned that the system was not registering any gift card balances which was causing these issues. Another Cast Member told us that the system had been up and down throughout the day. While Disney gift cards can be a great way to pay for your vacation, it’s key to have another form of payment available just in case these issues occur in the future. It appears the problem may have been resolved at the moment, but we’ll keep an eye out for more updates.
