While we already knew the Villaintine’s Day treats we narrowly escaped from last year would be returning to Disney’s Contemporary Resort for one day only — today’s the BIG DAY!
In fact, while everything looked calm and quiet on the surface, Contempo Cafe was literally under siege with the special Disney Villains desserts we knew were being re-released for Villaintine’s Day!
While last year we tried the Maleficent Flourless Cake and Cruella de Vil Cupcake (which you can read our reviews of here!) this time around we wanted to make the acquaintance of a few more foes — like the Captain Hook Cupcake for $5.49! This sinister goodie features a chocolate cake topped with a swirl of blue and white buttercream, gummy fish, a dark chocolate plank, and a white chocolate piece with the antagonist himself, Captain Hook!
While we thought the Captain Hook Cupcake was one of the cuter treats we sampled, it was pretty basic. Just good ol’ chocolate cake and dyed buttercream. We could tell it was super fresh because of how crumbly it was, so big props to the pirate for being nice and yummy!
We have quite the sweet spot for Belle’s unsuitable suitor and this Gaston Cupcake for $5.99 really commanded our attention! It’s a caramel cake with a dulce de leche filling, red and gold vanilla buttercream, a dark chocolate belt.
The Gaston Cupcake is roughly the size of a barge, so we were diggin’ it right away just for sheer manpower. The caramel cake and dulce de leche filling were amazing. The cake was super moist, soft and fresh. There was a lot of dulce de leche in the center and it was nice and sweet — not the qualities one would normally use to describe Gaston, but delicious nonetheless!
We’re not really sure why Hades gets such a bum rap for being a bad guy! He’s actually just a big softy! The Hades Cupcake for $5.99 was is a vanilla cupcake filled with pumpkin custard and topped with blue buttercream, silver sugar, and a white chocolate piece of Hades’ handsome mug!
Just like Gaston, the Hades Cupcake was super moist and tasty. The pumpkin is VERY prominent. If you’re not a huge pumpkin fan, this could be a hard pass, but fans of the flavor should really enjoy this!
Lastly, we sank our teeth into the Scar Peanut Butter Pie for $4.79. Long live the king!! The Scar Peanut Butter Pie is a peanut butter-flavored tart with a chocolate sprinkle rim and a white chocolate garnish of Simba’s evil Uncle!
And get a load of those cocoa powder claw scratches! Mee-youch! That looks like it’ll leave a MARK!
Despite his sourpuss exterior, the Scar Peanut Butter Pie is really really peanut buttery. The flavor is super strong and it even smells super very peanut buttery. It’s not very sweet and its texture is soft and smooth. We really loved it!
You can also get the Maleficient Flourless Cake…
…the Ursula Cake…
…and the Cruella de Vil Cupcake. You can also snatch up the Evil Queen Fruit Tart and the Dr. Facilier Cookie Sandwich!
